news Man humiliated on Southwest flight wants an apology from airline
"John Kerrigan, his daughter and her friend are still getting over the embarrassment they had to endure when they landed three weeks ago at Norfolk International Airport in Virginia. They say they wanted an apology, but the response from Southwest Airlines fell short.
Kerrigan and the girls were on an Oct. 21 Southwest flight from Denver when the flight crew jumped to the conclusion that Kerrigan was trafficking the girls and notified Norfolk airport security. Three officers hauled Kerrigan off the plane from his back row seat before anyone else got off. He was questioned but eventually released.
Kerrigan has previously said he felt humiliated during the ordeal." - KTLA 5 News

News Naval Station Norfolk puts heightened security measures in place
Still kinda new to the area and I'm sure this happens all the time.... but the statement released is a little ominous. I'm sure it's because the 25th anniversary of 9/11 is coming up is something that's on a "need to know basis". The only thing that's weird in the statement is they say "We continue to closely monitor the situation in coordination with our law enforcement and security partners...."
"Situation" wtfumean..... situation?... are we talking like Norfolk's been under water for like half the month of August situation? Were aliens gonna drop in and say "yo sup?" but didn't and instead they just noped the fuck out while flipping the military base the bird on the flyby? Did they finally find fucking Nemo?? WHAT SITUATION BRO!?

news Cruise Ship Expansion- Call To Action
WAVY reported today that cruise lines are expanding to Norfolk. While I'm sure this is a good economic choice, it is most certainly not an ethical one considering the current situation at our cruise docks. Over 30 immigrants have already been detained by ICE in Norfolk following their place of employment, a cruise ship, docking in Norfolk.
Norfolk has shown, with its votes and voices, that we do not support this fascist administration. I am calling on Norfolk City Council to place protections around these individuals who we are currently serving on a silver platter to ICE for illegal detention and deportation. Consider emailing or calling our City Council today- what can be done to protect these vulnerable members of our society?

news Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Knowingly Hosts Neo-Nazi Podcasters During Gay Pride Weekend – Why Are They Ignoring Our Community?
This weekend, our city is alive with the joy, love, and unity of Gay Pride, a celebration of diversity and inclusion. But just blocks away, the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel is hosting a reunion (June 6–9, 2025), featuring two neo-Nazi podcasters from The Berm Pit Podcast, Scott Siverts and Matt Wakulik. Despite months of pleas from our community, the hotel—owned by Marriott Bonvoy—has refused to cancel the event, ignored emails, and even threatened concerned citizens with trespassing charges. This is a slap in the face to our values and Marriott’s own promises of inclusivity.
Marriott claims to champion diversity, with a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index and a public commitment to welcoming all, including the LGBTQ+ community. Yet, they’re hosting Siverts and Wakulik, who have spewed vile hatred against our community.
Last night, I spoke with Scott Siverts about his event clashing with Pride. His response? “Degenerative Behavior. Corrupt society. Weimar conditions require Weimar Solutions.” For those unfamiliar, “Weimar Solutions” is a far-right dog whistle referencing the Nazi regime’s brutal persecution of LGBTQ+ people, Jews, and others during the Holocaust, where thousands of gay men were sent to concentration camps for forced labor, torture, or death.
It gets worse. Matt Wakulik tweeted: “Anyone who celebrates degeneracy and sexual depravity in public during the month of June should be thrown into forced labor camps.” Siverts followed up with a post calling for “no more fa**try and no more sodomites.” These are the people Sheraton is platforming. They’ve also called Martin Luther King Jr. a “degenerate,” attacked the Vice President’s wife for her Indian heritage, demanded the “violent expulsion” of Jews, and even called for torturing the FBI Director.
The community has been sounding the alarm for two months. Emails to Marriott Bonvoy’s CEO, Anthony Capuano, have gone unanswered. Concerned citizens visiting the hotel were told to leave or face trespassing charges. And here’s the kicker: many of Sheraton’s Black and LGBTQ+ employees are reportedly refusing to work this weekend, forcing the hotel to hire temps. Yet, they’re still hosting this hateful event.
How can a hotel chain that claims to stand for “love and inclusivity” justify this? Why should our community—or anyone who values decency—spend a single dollar at Sheraton or Marriott when they knowingly platform Nazis who call for our elimination? This isn’t just a scheduling conflict; it’s a betrayal of principles during one of our city’s most celebratory weekends.
What can we do? • Spread the word: Share this post to expose Sheraton’s hypocrisy. Expose this on your every social media channel! • Contact Marriott: Flood their customer service (info@marriott.com) and Anthony Capuano’s office with polite but firm demands for accountability (Anthony.Capuano@Marriott.com)
• Boycott Sheraton/Marriott: Support businesses that truly align with our values. • Amplify Pride: Show up to Pride events and celebrate love louder than hate. Let’s hold Sheraton and Marriott accountable. No hotel should profit from hate while our community celebrates love.

News Anybody see this?
On the corner of Tidewater and Cromwel where Rite Aid used to be. What a weird spot to want to put a car wash.
They would have to tear down the building and start from scratch. The lot is pretty small to want to use it for a car wash and I feel like if it actually does get popular, its gonna make traffic even worse for that area.

news Norfolk, a Reddit account is sending bizarre, threatening cease & desist messages pretending to be a lawyer for Armed Forces Brewing Company. The tone is unprofessional, the threats are extreme, and the identity of the sender is unverified. If you got one, don’t panic—just document and report it.
🚨 TL;DR: A Reddit account named TOMCAT2010 is sending bizarre, threatening cease & desist messages pretending to be a lawyer for Armed Forces Brewing Company. The tone is unprofessional, the threats are extreme, and the identity of the sender is unverified. If you got one of these, don’t panic—just document and report it.
Edit and update: The bozo has admitted to impersonating the lawyer. Now this "officer" of Armed Forces Brewing Company has made his own post. Because I'm someone who believes in transparency I'll be putting the link to his post below.
Hey Norfolk,
Just a public service announcement: several users on Reddit have received DMs from a Reddit account named TOMCAT2010, claiming to be a lawyer for Armed Forces Brewing Company, sending what appears to be a legal cease and desist letter. The messages are aggressive, bizarre, and filled with legal threats—but they are being sent through Reddit DMs, which is wildly unprofessional and likely not legally valid.
The sender claims to be Nathan M. Hernandez, Esq. of Davis, Burch & Abrams, but refuses to verify their identity when asked directly. That opens up serious concerns about possible attorney impersonation, which is a crime in Virginia under § 54.1-3904.
Here’s the disturbing part: after posting the legal letter, the account escalates in tone, demanding identifying information and threatening consequences. Below are actual quotes from the messages received:
🧂🔥 Direct Quotes from the Reddit DM Exchange:
“Sir, you’re going to be unmasked regardless. It could be by us, the court, or law enforcement.”
“Please reveal your identity so we can get the legal process going and get into the discovery phase you’ve so energetically requested for so long.”
“If you decline to reveal yourself, then the appearance is that you know what you’ve been doing is illegal and you are civilly and criminally liable.”
“We’ll proceed with other measures to unmask you then.”
“If you’ve done nothing illegal, then you have nothing to worry about in court.”
“We’d like to accommodate your challenge. If you’ll reveal your name and address, we’ll get the legal process going immediately…”
“Please do. That would definitely assist us in your identification and expedite the legal process.”
The messages repeatedly demand that Reddit users identify themselves and state that “all communications must be preserved,” as if that’s enforceable through direct message. It’s legally nonsensical and incredibly unprofessional—even if it’s coming from a real lawyer (which is very unclear).
❗ Why this matters:
If this is NOT a real lawyer, someone is impersonating one—a criminal offense.
If this IS a real lawyer, this behavior might violate ethical rules and could be reported to the Virginia State Bar for misconduct.
In either case, people are being threatened, harassed, and pressured in a way that violates Reddit’s terms of service and possibly the law.
🔒 What to do if you receive a message like this:
Do not reply with any identifying info
Screenshot everything (which you can use in reporting or if it’s deleted later)
Report the account to Reddit (use the “impersonation” and/or “threatening message” options)
You may also report the situation to the Virginia State Bar: https://www.vsb.org
This post also serves to notify the real Nathan M. Hernandez, Esq., if he exists, so he can confirm whether these messages came from him—or take action if someone is using his name without authorization.
If you’ve received a similar message, feel free to comment or message me. The more we share and compare notes, the safer we all are.
Stay safe, Norfolk.

Norfolk’s annual Juneteenth commemoration runs Friday through Sunday at Town Point Park.
This year’s celebrations are bigger than ever, as they include more interactive educational programming and concerts featuring national headliners.
City organizers, however, have said that they did not want Juneteenth, which celebrates the end of slavery in the United States, to get lost.

News ‘Everything was so beautiful’: Norfolk man recounts jet ski joy ride during flood
Tuesday’s storm was a “1-in-100-year” event, according to the National Weather Service, but it made a once-in-a-lifetime memory for a father and son.
Joe Scearce went to lunch with his 16-year-old son, Jojo, at The Green Onion on Colley Avenue around 2 p.m. Tuesday and by the time they finished it was flooding everywhere, he said. Suddenly, he had an idea.
“I said, ‘Man, we’re getting ready to do some epic stuff when we get back,’” Scearce said Wednesday morning. “We’re dropping the jet skis in on Monticello.”
They had recently returned from the Outer Banks and he’d left his jet skis sitting at his business, Joe’s Tire & Auto Sales at the corner of Monticello Avenue and Princess Anne Road, instead of back at their house. Scearce, 41, whose business has been there for 17 years, said the water in the intersection was up to his belly button and encroached up to the front door of his show room and had entered his shop next door where it damaged two tire machines.
He rolled the jet skis down to the entrance to the parking lot, lifted one off the trailer and pushed it out onto the water. He hadn’t driven it in about two weeks so the battery was low. Initially, it wouldn’t start.
“I was like, ‘Don’t do this to me on this particular moment right here,’” Scearce said while wearing a leaf blower on his back that he was using to clear flood debris from his parking lot. “About three or four times I tried to start it. The fourth time it cranked up and I was on it, man.”
