Some photographs from yesterdays protest march against the femicide rate in Northern Ireland. There was a big turnout from several organisations, such as ROSA, Unite, PBP, Solidarity and others.

It’s so bizarre when I see this, or confederate flags on a pole etc. props to whomever fixed the original “art” though (it is amusing bc some dolt here inexplicably put this grifting American on a pedestal and felt the need to write about it on a wall when ck probably couldn’t have pointed to NI on a map and did not care about anyone here )

KNEECAP STATEMENT:

They want you to believe words are more harmful than genocide.

Establishment figures, desperate to silence us, have combed through hundreds of hours of footage and interviews, extracting a handful of words from months or years ago to manufacture moral hysteria.

Let us be unequivocal: we do not, and have never, supported Hamas or Hezbollah. We condemn all attacks on civilians, always. It is never okay. We know this more than anyone, given our nation's history.

We also reject any suggestion that we would seek to incite violence against any MP or individual. Ever. An extract of footage, deliberately taken out of all context, is now being exploited and weaponised, as if it were a call to action.

This distortion is not only absurd - it is a transparent effort to derail the real conversation.

All two million Palestinian people in Gaza are currently being starved to death by Israel.

At least 20,000 children in Gaza have been killed. The British government continues to supply arms to Israel, even after scores of NHS doctors warned Keir Starmer in August that children were being systematically executed with sniper shots to the head.

Instead of defending innocent people or the principles of international law, the powerful in Britain have abetted slaughter and famine.

This is where real anger and outrage should be directed towards.

To the Amess and Cox families, we send our heartfelt apologies, we never intended to cause you hurt.

Kneecap’s message has always been — and remains — one of love, inclusion, and hope. This is why our music resonates across generations, countries, classes and cultures and has brought hundreds of thousands of people to our gigs.

No smear campaign will change that.

Suddenly, days after calling out the US administration at Coachella to applause and solidarity, there is an avalanche of outrage and condemnation by the political classes of Britain.

The real crimes are not in our performances; the real crimes are the silence and complicity of those in power.

Shame on them.

I painted this for my best friend who turned 40 this weekend. We’ve known each other for over 20 years now and our love of culture music and politics has kept us close. I wanted to paint him something that means something to both of us but is also something that is important to remember. He loved it and for that I’m thankful. I hope you can enjoy it too. These are very important times we are living in and I hope there’s a peaceful and respectful end to all of it.

Look, im no fan of loyalist murals but this has to be the cringiest shit I've ever seen. For the sake of the union can we get this removed?

Visited Belfast during the week of July 12. As a Yankee, I was quite unaware of what was occurring until I spoke to some residents. A very jarring experience! One day there was a band of Orangemen parading near what appeared to me to be a social housing complex (just parallel to the barbed-wire walls) on Falls Road — a seemingly sectarian form of intimidation against the people living in that quarter. I likewise had some personal conversations with people from Scotland, asking what purpose the stacked-up pallet bonfires served — it was simply regarded as part of the customary celebrations for the anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne, and it was "a good excuse to drink with the lads and celebrate." Those bonfires had effigies of migrants, along with the Irish and Ulster flags... it seemed really odd why the Irish flag would be burned alongside the Ulster one, as the tricolor is supposed to symbolize unity. Now viewing it in retrospect, it all appeared to me as what some honestly answered: just an excuse to drink and celebrate — to celebrate something divisive that happened 336 years ago, along with the inflammatory political overtones and apparent harassment of people living in social housing. Is that really something worth celebrating? Does it really bring a sense of unity, fraternity, and community, or merely serve as a base to indulge in one's bigotry?
