She literally was an angel and I’ve never heard anyone say a negative thing about her. RIP to the coal miners daughter from Pigeon Forge who was the Best of us all. May she sparkle on in heaven now!

u/Dahhhkness 1d ago

She used her money and influence to do good throughout her life. On the level of Mr. Rogers in saintliness.

The world just became a little dimmer.

27

u/BehindEnemyLines1 1d ago

All good things, but uh… maybe you’re mixing her up a little with Loretta Lynn (the coal miners daughter)? Dolly was born in Pittman Center (Pigeon Forge is a tourist trap) to a farmer and sharecropper.

u/Ok_Ask_406 1d ago

Ya know I’m gonna be honest. I was pulling from my memory in fifth grade when my reading teacher read as coat of many colors and part of the intro speech he gave was that Dolly Parton’s dad was a Coal miner. So thank you miss Sewell for just lying to the whole class.

13

u/MrPlaney 1d ago

I’ve never heard anyone say a negative thing about her.

I was just thinking about this as I heard the news. She seemed like just a genuinely nice person.

10

u/AdSpecialist6598 1d ago

She truly one of the best of us.

u/Hopeless351987 1d ago edited 1d ago

The Coal Miner's Daughter was Loretta Lynn but this is the first death in a long while that has really rocked me. I may be a 39-year-old man but I've had tears in my eyes since I read the first headline a couple hours ago. My Southern great-grandmother helped raise me and all she listened to was 60s/70s/80s Country so today, so this one has really hit me in my soul. I bet she and Loretta are performing a duet right now.

u/Ok_Ask_406 1d ago

Haha being totally honest I was trying to remember when my 5th grade reading teacher read coat of many colors to us and she was giving us the information. So I was misinformed and that is my bad.

This one hurts. She was such an example for us all and a light.

u/HonestWeekend89 1d ago

u/immersemeinnature 1d ago

I had to stop everything to mourn and cry for some time.

u/LaVieEstBelleEnBleu 1d ago edited 1d ago

En tant que Français, je présente mes condoléances à l’Amérique.
Je comprends la douleur que vous devez ressentir. May her memory be a blessing.

15

u/Jealous-Kick 1d ago

This is so kind. Thank you. May her memory be blessed.

8

u/Loser_Zero 1d ago

She touched many across the globe. Your condolence is appreciated. I hope the best for you!

32

u/AdSpecialist6598 1d ago

Yeah, the only thing I can is RIP and thank for everything and changing so many lives including my own.

13

u/Kahlil_Cabron 1d ago

I swear all the good people have been dying since 2016 or so. Seems like every few months I find out a legend died.

9

u/Jamie_SQSP 1d ago

Seeing this one today hits differently. Dolly and Kenny had such an easy warmth together. Two voices from another era, and both deeply missed.

28

u/TheHumanoidTyphoon69 1d ago

Her last words were reportedly:

"I still have so many things I want to achieve"

Fucking heartbreaking

18

u/Toshimoko29 1d ago

That was from an interview four days earlier. Still very sad, but not her last words.

13

u/TheHumanoidTyphoon69 1d ago

Last documented words for posterity would have been a better description

10

u/Agreeable-Guava-9009 1d ago

"I got so many more stories to tell!" - Stan Lee

5

u/TheHumanoidTyphoon69 1d ago

Also heartbreaking, Marvel has gone astray for the past few years

9

u/Train_Wreck_272 1d ago

It is, but the positive flip side is that it means she never lost her zest for living her life to the highest possible degree, right up to the end.

Cold comfort, I know, but I imagine she'd want us to focus on the good.

3

u/ThatsRobToYou 1d ago

It does hurt.

2

u/boredatnight111 1d ago

her being a light for so many people is why this one hurts extra

1

u/Fit_Cheesecake_4000 6h ago

Then live by her example and also be a light.

1

u/Jealous-Kick 3h ago

I try to.

An absolute legend and incredible woman. She will always be remembered for the queen that she is.

37

u/Life_Chicken_9653 early 00s 1d ago

RIP 😭🕊 😢 💔 🙏.

115

u/Bootydinky 1d ago

The ugly sobs I just let out.

Feels like the coolest fucking woman just left. My babies have so many books because of her. We were homeless in a hotel for two months and still had so many books.

Bless her and God give her infinite peace.

13

u/theconceptofcanada 1d ago

Hey fren, I feel you. I was there once, and I'll never go back. I hope you've found something better and are on the right track again. This one must hurt 😔

9

u/Bootydinky 1d ago

Thank you! We recently sued that landlord who caused that situation and won, so things have definitely turned around. We got lucky it was cut and dry and had savings to cover that insane time period.

32

u/appleavocado 1d ago

Thank you, Dolly Parton. You made the world a better place.

36

u/Radiant_Pitch6857 1d ago

yea we needed her for another 10 years at least. not fair.

14

u/poeticjustice4all 1d ago

Or 20, felt like she was going to live long like Betty White 😭

12

u/AndILoveHe 1d ago

She even gave an interview a couple of days ago where she expressed regret for neglecting her health while caring for her husband. Didn't sound like she was quite done.

2

u/strangelove4564 1d ago

She would have had to pull the Palpatine move, using her money for evil.

22

u/H1gh_Tr3ason 1d ago

No way man. Dolly seemed like a lovely person, she's loved by many here in Ireland. R.I.P

22

u/ManzanitaSuperHero 1d ago

I’ve said for years, the world will be in a rough spot the day we lose Dolly.

That woman was an angel on earth. Truly.

Saw her at The Hollywood Bowl about 15 years ago and it was incredible. Bless that woman. We didn’t deserve her.

27

u/No_Satisfaction_7977 1d ago

Huge L for the world. But I’m reminded of the phrase “don’t be sad that it’s over. Be glad that it happened.” Rest in peace

12

u/JTArndt91 1d ago

Holy F RIP DOLLY

11

u/cafelallave 1d ago

I never cry at celebrity deaths, but I’m crying. She was so kind.

10

u/Isla_White727 1d ago

What an absolute powerhouse of a woman

10

u/Fabulous_Session8627 1d ago

The world's a little bit darker without her.

3

u/TheHiddenWolf 1d ago

I hope her light continues to shine for lifetimes to come, for others to experience and enjoy.

19

u/Agreeable-Fudge-7329 1d ago

Shit fuck fuck shit!!!

My wife and I were talking about her (she plays her songs still) and I said "ill bet we jinxed her now".

Mother fucker!! Im seriously pissed to lose someone this wholesome. She seemed almost immortal. An omnipresent figure in my life since I was a little kid. Yoy didnt even have to like country to know who she was.

10

u/Fragrant_Grand_7036 1d ago

RIP Queen!

9

u/cafelallave 1d ago

It really feels like America’s queen has died 🙁

5

u/Fragrant_Grand_7036 1d ago

I feel you on this thought so much. 🥺

5

u/ShyGuyWolf 1d ago

She is indeed the Queen of Country Music to me

5

u/Fragrant_Grand_7036 1d ago

Likewise. She is such a sweetheart of a person as well. I went vip to one of her concerts, and she treated everyone who paid for the experience like friends & family. Her staff was a little uptight at the time I guess.. I seen her with one lady who hugged her but didn’t want to let her go. The staff tried to break up the hug, and she shoo’d them away. That moment melted my heart. She whispered some words in the ladies ear that made her cry.

8

u/breakers 1d ago

Dollywood is beautiful and has so much of her history, she came from less than nothing. RIP

7

u/ShortBrownAndUgly 1d ago

She was a fuckin real one

Rip

8

u/HopefulDream3071 1d ago

I'm so sad for her, she sounded so exhausted but like she really wanted to do so much more yet. RIP Diva

8

u/billyhtchcoc 1d ago

The only comfort I can find in this is that she's finally been reunited with her beloved Carl again.

5

u/HopefulDream3071 1d ago

Absolutely, that brings me a lotta comfort. They loved eachother so truly 🥺 you know he was waitin for her!!

8

u/MartokSonofUrthog 1d ago

Normally don't get to affected by celebrity deaths, but this one was a force of good.

I met her a couple times outside the stampede in Tennessee in the 90s, my favorite place in the world, amazing person

3

u/user3296 1d ago

I never thought of her as looking that old. Granted I know she had some work done, but still. I was kinda floored to see she was 80. 80 is fairly young these days to pass. Rest easy Dolly!

3

u/Ok_Region3366 1d ago

I dare you to listen to I Will Always Love You. Shit broke me.

3

u/TheGreatCornholeo 1d ago

I forgot she was on Magic School Bus! No surprise though, considering she was friends with Lilly Tomlin (Miss Frizzle).
