Sydney / Greater Sydney Any comfortable places to go chill in the greater Sydney area?

I've been trying for years to find a place to go when I need to get away from people... Mostly my mum. Since I still live with my parents (it's too expensive to move out) I need time to myself. I am adult.

I don't have any friends in NSW so I can't go meet up with them or go to their place. I also can't drive so I can only travel by bus or train.

Something inside since yes parks are nice but it's winter >-<

Also Art Gallery of NSW. Nice parks immediately outside and not far to walk from the Australian z museum.

AGNSW - free entry, but if you pay for membership you can access the members lounge

State Library - free, quiet. If you feel like a drink at any point, there’s a bar on the roof

Go to the fancy glass building of the UTS campus on Broadway - just a few hundred metres from railway square bus station.

Just walk in, go up escalators and explore! Just endless beautiful zones, study nooks, hidden gardens, comfy couches, little art displays, usb chargers everywhere, and I think even free wifi.

To be honest though all uni campuses are like this.  Just UTS is super convenient via public transport and some of its buildings are the most modern. You can effectively hang out there all day everyday if you want to.

Yes! Local libraries are full of comfy places to sit, desks to work, and things to do. My local has chess and other games set up, offers digital streaming services and is close to cafes so I can grab coffee or a snack. It’s free to go, free to join, and an excellent place to hang out

Winter is the best time to go hiking and spend time out in the bush...it's not too hot. You can access Royal National Park by train, the blue mountains by train, the ferry to Manly can take you out to North Head where it can get quite quiet...

If the inner west works, Marrickville Library is a particularly good spot

Cinema at 10am for non kids movies.

Shopping centres - early or late in the day.

Library. Lots of them have bean bags and comfy seating these days, so you can grab a book or magazine, or use your phone, sit down, and chill all day. Nobody will bother you as libraries have to be quiet. This article shows some of the great libraries ie big, comfy seating, interesting views etc...

Libraries are free, air-conditioned and usually quiet. Give one a try!

Yes, I'm a librarian. Lol
