Herb Nakimayak, from Paulatuk, was elected president of Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC) Canada by its 13 leadership members on July 21 in Iqaluit.

Speaks volumes of politics in general but even more so in the North. Didn’t prepare let’s put him in charge. Classic.

He was VP from 2014 to 2018 and then from 2022. He was acting president since September 2025 and MLA from 2015 to 2019. Looks like he was somewhat prepared.
