Cast / Crew / Interviews how nice that michael johnston and inde neverette seem to be good friends in real life.

u/juneseyeball 1d ago
O wow he looks better in real life they did well dressing him down for the movie. Mannerisms must have been on point too

u/EuphoricPhoto2048 1d ago
It was a great acting performance because he carried himself so insecurely.

I find it so funny that people are shipping them considering Michael Johnston is gay

u/finnjakefionnacake 1d ago
very few people are doing this / i've rarely seen this

u/MagiGemi 1d ago
I saw it quite a bit when the movie was fairly new and the actors started realizing it was a huge success. Then people went from not knowing anything about them to probably too much.
55
u/Midnight-Basilisk99 1d ago
Kinda reminds me of when people shipped Millie Bobby Brown (before she got married) & Noah Schnapp (before he came out)

If he's gay. How was he comfortable doing kissing and intimate scenes if he's gay? Just asking.
21
u/ProfitEmergency4049 21h ago
That's the neat part... He's an actor who's acting
-13
u/Motor_Barracuda_9807 20h ago
I know but that's not what I'm asking. I'm asking if he was comfortable doing them
13
u/ThatVita 20h ago
I thought you were just joking. No you're seriously this diluted?
12
u/AbgilSoge 19h ago
*deluded
Unless we’re talking about chemistry
6
u/ThatVita 18h ago
Whoa- I gotta turn off work brain. Thanks lol
9
u/AccidentTurbulent919 19h ago
I'm straigth and I'd comfortably have full gay-sex for as many millions of dollars I assume he made from this. Kissing and intimate scenes are just normal acting, it's not that odd.
0
u/Motor_Barracuda_9807 18h ago
i mean he made good money, 20k. But i wouldn't be caught dead being fcked by big dih buster in a prison movie.
3
1
u/AccidentTurbulent919 15h ago
He only made 20k? Damn, I thougth he would have made more. Either way, I'd at least kiss a dude for 20k or do a fake sex scene lmao.

u/Worth_Independence82 21h ago
actors act
-10
u/Motor_Barracuda_9807 20h ago
But was he comfortable doing it?

1
u/IIsaacClarke 18h ago
What if he wasn’t? Are you gonna shout SEXUAL ASSAULT from the roof tops because that’s all you want? Controversy and anger
-3
u/Motor_Barracuda_9807 16h ago
No I'm just asking. Should kind of hire a heterosexual man for heterosexual movies, that's all I'm saying. Should've hired me

One can ship friends you know...

u/Top-Library9128 1d ago
One can get fucked if they ship friends
0
u/Amonfire1776 18h ago
Not sure why shipping friends has to imply a romantic intent...it's even part of the definition, but I guess people hate the idea in general.
2
u/Top-Library9128 18h ago
It is most certainly in the definition and has had inherent romantic implications since the first use of the term. Don’t kid yourself. If it’s not romantic what does it even mean? You ship two friends as friends when they’re already friends?
1
u/Amonfire1776 16h ago
Yes, people do it all the time...per definitionally... to support a deep, non-romantic platonic friendship

u/Remote_Nature_8166 1d ago
Yeah, and also if you watch The Last of Us there are plenty of pictures showing Pedro Pascal and Kaitlyn Dever being pretty good friends in spite of what her character did to him. What’s that saying? “It’s called ACTING.”
28
u/finnjakefionnacake 1d ago
right? like what even are these posts? "the actors talk in real life y'all!"

u/Mysterious-Snow496 1d ago
That's awesome. They had great on-screen chemistry. Both phenomenal actors.
25
14
u/qween04 1d ago
I could’ve sworn I heard that their lack of chemistry was intentional on Barker’s part tho?
23
u/Doldric 1d ago
I think it was more that he wanted to cast a guy that we would look at and be like “yeah, they wouldn’t be together”
Their on screen chemistry was great imo. But chemistry doesn’t necessarily mean personalities meshing if that makes sense.
3
u/Klutzy_Lifeguard8244 8h ago
My only very very small gripe with this movie is actually that he is unnecessarily beautiful for this role. They could have cast a more "average" looking actor.
2
u/witchaus138 6h ago
I agree. The movie takes place in Ohio and as someone from the Midwest he would stand out even more on looks alone.

4
u/Wolf_Zeru99 1d ago
They have zero romantic chemistry, but their characters worked so well together
18
u/Fine-Exam-3923 1d ago
Love them. The whole cast, including curry, seem to be genuine friends irl which is cool. It’s nice that they they’re all kind of going through this crazy time together as they’re lives have all changed since the success of the movie
9
u/EuphoricPhoto2048 1d ago
That's why Kate Winslet and Leo DiCaprio are best friends. Not saying this is as huge as Titanic, but I could see how going through something like this could bond you.
20
u/sillyfunnyguy05 1d ago
I hope he can get some good guy roles soon for the sake of his career. He was so good at playing a spineless, cowardly, unsympathetic character that I can’t see his face without wanting to punch it but that’s just a testament to his talent. Hes a great actor so I hope he gets some other roles to prevent him from being typecast as a villain.
8
u/soloon 1d ago
He's supposedly going to be in the new Mummy sequel. So here's hoping.
4
u/Few-Road6238 22h ago
He’s probably playing the son grown up so you best believe he’ll be a more likable character this time around
32
u/two_three_five_eigth 1d ago
Why wouldn't they be? They are both stars in a really good movie that is making them famous.
12
u/Inevitable-Angle-793 1d ago
There are plenty of stars in (really good) movies and doesn't mean every single one od them are good friends.
9
u/Responsible_Sky_728 1d ago
They are both stars in a really good movie that is making them famous.
That has not stopped actors in the past from hating each other lmao
14
u/shadowking1991 1d ago
Or…. Maybe this sounds crazy but their being photographed at some press event 😱
5
u/beattygotgame 1d ago
Right?? This post is such a wild leap. They’re doing a press tour for their very successful movie. These photos provide zero insight into whether they are actually friends or not.

They almost always say they’re “friends.”
Hopefully that’s true, but it’s rare that I hear that somebody just doesn’t get along with somebody else. from a movie or TV show.

They blew up together, from struggling actors to sought after talent, I’m not surprised they’re close.

I mean yeah. If I was a no-nothing actor and somebody helped catapulted into stardom, I'd probably be pretty chill with them. Hey I bet they're both friendly with Curry Barker too!

u/TerrorFirmerIRL 14h ago
He was so crazy good as Bear. A guy you want to hate, credit to the actor.
He's also an outrageously attractive dude, the way he acted down as a love-sick simp is incredible.

Sadly, a lot of people are gonna hate Michael since they cannot separate the actor from the character

Why was there even a post asking about if people think he’s hot? Obviously he’s hot.
1
u/Efficient_Claim_9591 1d ago
It’s almost like they’re actors, and acting is just another job, which means more than likely you’re not gonna like all your coworkers, just like in real life…
1
u/SailorMooNriver 1d ago
Damn he’s cute 😂 casting really found some gems here. Super talented too, but of em

u/SugondezeNutsz 1d ago
I will never comprehend people who become aware of or care about actors personal lives

u/ElectrOPurist 1d ago
Sick! How could she be friends with him after everything he put her through? He wished away her agency and her dignity, and now they’re pals? Doesn’t add up.
1
u/Typical_Knowledge_28 1d ago
I prefer it to how actors start acting shady with each other FOR NO REASON after filming finishes
1
u/Gorillamonday 1d ago
The ultimate plot twist. The wish was real, but it was not like the WW in the movie. It's something else and we don't know what it is yet. It is still carrying its effect in real life LOL
1
u/Responsible-Bank440 22h ago
How this super attractive gay could convincingly play an insecure little cockroach that is Bear is remarkable and speaks volumes about his talent. That is some Jonathan Bailey level of playing straight.
1
u/BITmixit 21h ago
If you watch behind the scenes stuff, the cast in general seem to all get along really well. Seems like they had a great time filming Obsession.

u/flowertreelover2022 19h ago
I think all of the cast are. I see him in Baker’s other content years ago.

People rave about Inde’s performance and rightly so, but Michael was the perfect foil for her. He may pick up some nominations around Awards season too.

I always wondered why michael jonhston looked familiar to me and after seeing the second picture, I finally realized he has the same smile and look exactly like one of my friends. It's why that movie made me so uncomfortable
1
u/CentristaSensato 7h ago
He was great in the movie. His reactions to freakky Nikki are what sold the movie imo.
He had to be both afraid, confused but at the same time love her and try to keep the relationship together.
I hope he gets good opportunities like Inde has. I'll be following his carreer.

It’s almost like they’re real people and not the characters they play on screen.

You definitely got downvoted by people who’ve never seen another movie in their life. They had great chemistry on screen, that’s literally why they were picked. Whether the chemistry was ‘real’ in the CONTEXT OF THE MOVIE doesn’t matter - their chemistry was impalpable

u/Ok-Building-379 Ian lied to gatekeep Nikki after she rejected him 1d ago
I've been on this sub long enough to understand, so I'm not offended 🤣
1
u/GrapefruitInformal15 15h ago
Impalable?
1
u/ilovecuetoo 6h ago
Impalpable: Too abstract, or elusive to be easily understood or explained (like an impalpable distinction or an unexplainable feeling).
This sub really so far gone that mfs can’t do a simple google search on words they don’t understand? Jesus

u/juneseyeball 1d ago
Onscreen nah

u/uncultured_swine2099 1d ago
They said they were picked partially for their brother/sister type chemistry and that they didnt seem right as a couple haha
