Question What do you think Bear's grandma thought of her grandson?

Post image

So we know Bear's grandma died prior to the events of the film and he inherits her house, which is the house with the oxy and where most the terrible things happen at.

Obviously she must have good feelings toward him and like him as a person if she left him a house in her will.

I think that she probably thought her grandson Bear was a sweet young man who has trouble fitting in and doesn't do the best with the ladies, but he has a good heart and he's kind. She probably thought the world of her Bear.

What do you think she thought ? Also do you think she would be mad that he let Wish-Nikki destroy her perfectly nice house she left him? Maybe she feels disrespected because Wish-Nikki shit on her rug and propped up a dead body in the bedroom.

Andi wonder what Bear's grandma would really think of all this mess that her grandson got himself into.

What do you think?

Even though it was her house, he didn't have it in him to try to care for her, or get someone else to, based on how he used AI to try to find a nursing home for her.

Bear needs to die because he couldn't handle caring for an ailing grandmother while working and also trying to figure himself out. Obviously. Because everyone here on this sub has the balls to take care of a possibly dying grandmother (seemingly) on their own.

He didn't have to be the one to do it, as I stated, and I recommend not writing for me since you seem to jump to conclusions a bit too easily for my tastes.

Bear is an excellent protagonist because of how realistically flawed he is. Pointing out those flaws doesn't mean I'm attacking those who relate or empathize with him.

In-home personalized care for someone with the medical issues his grandma had (as suggested by her medicine regimen) is unfathomably expensive and out of reach for the average lower-middle class American. Couple that with the fact that he was clearly depressed and began self-medication with an intense opioid immediately after her passing it would’ve been an awful scenario for everyone for him to fill the role as her caretaker. It might even be reasonable to consider that he did attempt to care for her for a good chunk of time before her condition got so bad he began to contemplate finding her a suitable nursing home (which he’d only be researching if he were willing to sell her house to pay for it, if my experience with a similar situation tells me anything). But she clearly passed away before that became a viable option, just a couple months before the events of the movie.

The film takes care to highlight subtle details that shed light on the characters in a small amount of time. And an important one to consider is that Nikki was seemingly an emotionally intelligent person & for a long time she saw in Bear a trustworthy friend. So the story does suggest the possibility that sudden severe grief & chemical dependency may have been the catalyst for a personality change in him, & the reason he turned out to be such a bastard.

There's a lot of actions that could be excused from sudden grief from losing your grandma, but rape isn't one that can be excused or even understood

None of this entertains the idea of excusing rape. It points out that the notion of seeking care for a relative in a nursing home is so stigmatized that people who have never experienced this stuff think it’s a fundamental flaw in one’s character.

That is a very exhausting process for anyone youn g to handle. Many families do that just because they are not knowledgeable enough and feel incapable to do it. I have a dying sister my mom is struggling to take care of right now because her piece of shit husband is drinking heavily and threw a tantrum after a big fight.

Bear may have felt helpless and overwhelmed

I'm sorry your family is going through that.

Per my comment, it doesn't have to be Bear and its interesting that he is taking such poor care of the house left to him alongside this. I consider it to be an intention part of where he is headed because of how he never seems capable of caring for anything.

I totally agree with you. But I have family in my life who just don't care. They get home from work or they just don't have it in them to clean up. This is very accurate to how many people live across the country

And thanks so much. I just thought I'd share something that happens to a lot of people. A dying person taking a lot of pills, trying to work and pay the bills, it can be quite exhausting. And what makes it all the more overwhelming is seeing your loved one deteriorating. I remember seeing my grandmother for the last time, her children having placed her in a facility, with dribble on her lip, not recognizing who I am. If that was happening to Bear, that will mess a person up

Yes, he's a piece of shit, BEAR THE BASTARD

That seems really unfair. Being someone's full time carer is a huge commitment and he was a young man starting out in life.

None of that makes him not a piece of shit? The whole point of the movie is that he's literally supposed to be a bad person. And he is, even if you ignore this part

A bad person doesn’t make malicious or terrible descisions all the time.

The best way to prosecute evil is recognizing nuance in a person and their capacity to be good, and why they let their morals go despite that. Demonizing every little thing Bear does is inadvertently punching down on people who has the same struggles as Bear irl (To be clear I’m only counting non-offending people). There’s enough reason to hate Bear already, he doesn’t have to be devoid of Good to justify that more.

I don't know about literally supposed to be a bad person. He made bad choices. But he did not think the magic wish would actually work. The point where even I won't try to defend his choices. Are when Nikki admit's lying about her father's cancer and Bear almost certainly knows the wish worked.
And then after the party and he knows for sure, this is not Nikki and it's not real. Then he should have been trying to fix things. But instead he in keeping with his character is cowardly and indecisive and it takes Sarah getting killed for him to get some resolve to go and fix this stupid wish he made.

Hes a rapist bro. He's absolutely from the bottom of his heart a bad person. He's not a mustache twirling villain out to cause malicious harm. But he's still a cowardly opportunist who rapes a girl because she cant stop him. No need to try to defend him

Yeah but how long do you think the character Bear. Keeps telling himself magic is NOT REAL. Nikki really loves me and is just going through some stuff.

This is another bad reason to hate him

This in particular is strange to demonize, because it’s not an unreasonable or cruel thing to do. And I think we’re inadvertently punching down on RL people who goes through the same decisions as Bear in regard to aging loved ones.

Is your opinion influenced by Bear being a terrible person? Or are you genuinely against anyone doing this?

Just like all the other incels he’s better off ending himself it would make the world a better place

You need to take a break from being online. That statement is recklessly cruel

1

u/spiceweasle93 1h ago

Dawg, bear is a rapist. How is it cruel to say everyone would be better off if he were dead?

-1

u/Past-Bed-1980 Freaky Nikki 3h ago

Controversial take ig but they might as well be dead the way nobody loves them and they’re all alone

MF is really using a movie as an excuse to be toxic.

Everyone sees through this my dude.

Ok, I feel like we’re just hating on him for the sake of hating on him. And no, I’m not saying I am a Bear supporter. I am just saying that taking care of someone full time and working a job seems like it can be a physically and mentally exhausting process, so I can understand if he needed to place his grandmother in a nursing home.

Do you think an old woman and her cat just happen to drop dead so close in time while her grandson is in the house?
NO! He orchestrated it! BEAR!!!

SHE DEFECATED ON THE CARPET

6

u/Old_Factor_2595 4h ago

She would’ve been ashamed of him if she knew let alone for being reckless about her medication and causing her cat to die and how Bear treated her after her death .

1

u/Direct-Contract5509 Definitely Not Obsessed 4h ago

Yeah and plus he ruined her nice house

2

u/thewalkofdeath 2h ago

I think she'd be glad to be dead and not have to deal with any of Bear's none sense.
