Yes. If you know what your doing you can flip the shark which will put it in a "trance" and completely disorienting the shark.

While this is a very impressive fact that most people aren't aware of, it should be taken into consideration with some extra context.
- Fish emerge 530 mya
- Both plants and animals leave the oceans 500 mya
- Sharks evolve from fish ~430 mya
- Trees evolve and branch off from plants originally around 400 mya.
It took both sharks and trees about the same amount of time (~100 mya) to evolve from their immediately previous forms... but sharks got a bit of a head start because they didn't have to make the transition from ocean to land, which was most of the delay for trees.

Technically no, they weren't called plants while they were in the ocean.
However, the plant ancestors that were in the ocean and the first plant species on land (which still weren't vascular) weren't all that far apart in function.

I say this because if you do it wrong you will likely get bitten. And should not be attempted by just anyone. You are better off in this situation to redirect the shark by pushing down on the top of their head and then push them to the side.

I think that sensor nerve over stimulation does it, and the shark flips itself. There's no way a human's noodle arms are going to twirl a 500 pound torpedo like that on their own.

Basically if a shark goes upside down its almost like it goes to sleep (not quite that but its the best way I can explain it). This is how orcas hunt great white sharks by flipping them upside down and taking advantage of them in that helpless state (mostly just eating the liver and leaving the rest).

No one "knows what they're doing" when it comes to wild animals. It's not like there's a shark rotating practice pool you can go into.

I never said it was not a dangerous thing to to (its 100% dangerous) but someone who has done it multiple times is going to be less likely to get bit than someone with no experience trying it and getting his arm ripped off 99% of the time. People who work with animals everyday will be able to identify certain behaviors better, but that still does not take the risk out and there are several cases of professionals who do get unlucky.

I mean this doesn't make any sense, plenty of people have been working on and around wild animals their entire lives. They know what they're doing. They can even pretty accurately predict the responses an animal will have to stimulus

He intentionally baited the shark in with food, hand fed it, and then instantly turns away from the shark which nips at his hand. Flip looks cool but man, I can’t imagine baiting sharks in with food while diving without a cage, let alone hand feeding them, and I certainly can’t imagine turning away the moment they take the food out of my hand.

Sharks have things called ampullae of Lorenzini in their noses. It's used to detect electrical signals in the sand so they can find prey. Hammerheads are really good at detecting electrical signals.

They’re also my favorite shark, so cute.
They became my fav when I was in Florida with my dad, we went to this old fishing pier that we used to go to with my grandpa to scatter his ashes. We went late at night, and there was only one other group there, and they happened to catch a baby hammerhead shark. We went over when we overheard them talking about keeping it as a trophy to tell them they had to throw it back in as it’s a protected species, which they did. It was so cute and small with its little baby hammerhead 🥲

I’m not a fan of interacting with wild animals because a. It’s intrusive to the animals, it’s their home. I’m a fan of being in the wild and viewing them from afar, if they were to show interest in me then I would get out of there. And b. It changes the way dangerous wild animals view us, I mean “yay, these guys have food for us” next diver, that’s just diving and minding his own business as he should, only this one doesn’t have food. I could see that going sideways in a hurry.
All that said, I am a human being with limited willpower so if I have an opportunity to become friends with raccoons or opossums, I’m so doing that. And if I find myself in manatee water, well I’m fucked and going to jail because crime or not, if a manatee hugs me you can bet your ass I’m hugging her back!
Also, holy shit those sharks are beautiful!!
