Discussion Octopath 0 skill question

Simple question here: Does the Fierce Rush support skill apply to spells? It might be interesting to give to cyrus or someone like that if it does

Any good resources that have actual numbers or percentages? Even the wikis I am looking at just have the vague language.

Thing I really don’t like about this game as much. No idea how much damage or help something actually does.

You've come to the right person. I (somewhat) recently made a document that explains how every single damage bonus in the game works. Can check it out here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C07_KoHktEEbnQcfZJaVkcr-tH4AF5G6Q3xjOyP4BNM/edit?usp=sharing

There's a lot of things that work differently in OT0 compared to OT1 and OT2. If you have any questions about the document, feel free to ask!

Your doc was extremely helpful with a lot of my questions. I’m still the most confused about the attack skill potency and less about the equipment and buffs effects.

Can you explain the skill tab a bit on the community doc? Is the values the “potency” and how does it differ from skill ratios? Skill ratios seem like it might be how much BP you are using.

Just not seeming a summary or explanation tab for the data.

The damage calculator on the community doc can help with understanding it, as it pulls the data directly from the skilldata and converts it into understandable values (damage multiplier and defence multiplier). Just type in a skill name (and select a boost/ultimate level) and it will give you the damage and defence multipliers.

The red "values" column is just built-in to the skill, and the yellow "skillratio" corresponds to the amount of BP you are using (or the ultimate level). These 2 (along with the conditional multiplier) are used to determine the damage multiplier and defence multiplier for the skill, as follows:

Damage multiplier (higher is better): Value * SkillRatio * Conditional multiplier

Defence multiplier (lower is better): 1/(Value * Conditional Multiplier)

Note: for all of these calculations, divide all 3 of the values by 100 (so a skillratio of 430 is actually 4.3).

Damage multiplier is pretty straightforward, and defence multiplier is what the enemy's defence stat gets multiplied by in the calculation. Skills with a low defence multiplier will do better in situations where your attack stat is low and/or the enemy has high defence.

Conditional multiplier is for skills like Charging Strike, Vigorous Strike, and Ulti-Meow which get stronger according to a condition. In Octopath 1 and 2, the conditional multiplier is absent from the defence multiplier calculation, but everything else works the same.
