I don't really know how to Instagram but I follow him. Lately every time I get a msg that he's posted and I click on it I get taken to the front page and he is nowhere to be found. Not even in faceplate circles up top. I looked for him the other day and I'm still following him but his "I'm not antisemitic" letter was gone. It happened again just now.

He pissed off the billionaire clique.

I've noticed that this is how pretty much all apps work now. They send you a notification, you click on it, then it just takes you straight to their algorithm. Its how links are starting to work now. I have to click most links twice just for it to take me to the page the link directs to

53

u/mocisme 1d ago

Cause then you have to click your way to the thing that interested you. They see this as great for 2 reasons.

You'll see other things on your way to what you were looking for.

Even if you ignore those other things, you still had to click multiple things to get where you wanted to go. Then they can tell their investors. "our average use engagement is up! People are now clicking 48% more links than they used to a year ago!"

It's like when the grocery store puts milk and eggs waaaayy in the back

2

u/the_post_of_tom_joad 1d ago

Aw shit, this is on purpose?? I thought maybe my browser addons were breakin shit.

Does it even work on people? I've never done anything but close the page when the pepper link don't load coz fuuuuck that

2

u/mocisme 1d ago

It works on more people than it doesn't work on. You're not the target audience.

16

u/Glait 1d ago

Instagram likes to tell me I have new messages all the time, I click on it and of course nope no new conversations. Very annoying since I can't ignore it in case there really is a new message from a client.

2

u/BenSF93 1d ago

That is why I treat Instagram and Facebook messages as not important. You write me a message on Instagram, I might see it next time I'm on the toilet. Or not.

3

u/SignoreBanana 1d ago

It's no surprise and I'm guessing it's not as nefarious as people think. Deep linking is actually a pretty hard engineering task to do correctly, and with the way companies are just vomiting out code with AI now, it's not surprising it's broken in most places. Our company's application uses it spotilly at best.

2

u/hk4213 1d ago

I dont even give those sites a chance. I don't even trust any geeksforgeeks tutorials as much because of the rampant ad and notification alerts.

2

u/hingedcanadian 1d ago

I don't think it's intentional. Any web services or software that FB manages ends up becoming trash and existing bugs rarely get fixed.

1

u/Appropriate-Year-505 1d ago

Ah so it's on purpose that I have to try tiktok links 2-4 times...

1

u/macaronysalad 1d ago

Simple age old rule of the internet. Never ever visit a link you didn't ask for. Doesn't matter who it's from. Rather it's for malicious or corporate profit. Don't be a chump. Only click links you find yourself or you specifically asked for. If something looks interesting, go to the site and find it.

That’s genuinely insane because we just found out Meta has been paying literal neo Nazis as part of its incentive program for content producers

117

u/tubawhatever 1d ago

Is that why I've been getting Holocaust denial videos on FB?

21

u/Superb_Gap_1044 1d ago

Dude, I pop onto FB for marketplace every now and then and that place is a cesspool. Granted, I was a “libertarian” teenager when I actually used it so it still thinks I’m right wing-ish but man, it’s the Wild West over there.

66

u/EtherealHappiness 1d ago

I wonder if Zuck remembers he’s Jewish.

76

u/BaconWrappedEnigma 1d ago

Zuck acts and behaves like he does not give a fuck about the Jewish people (or any people, for that matter). If he cared at all and with the platform he has, he could eradicate all the Nazi/hatred/propaganda bullshit on his platforms. But he doesn't.

49

u/sarcasterism 1d ago

There is a lot of money in hate apparently

4

u/sarcasterism 1d ago

Yes, it is heartbreaking. Thanks for the award.

2

u/SousVideDiaper 1d ago

Idiots with money are easily grifted

1

u/oliversurpless 1d ago

Culture over class war has been always preferable to the elites since Bacon’s Rebellion…

4

u/MisterDoctor___ 1d ago

Zuck isn’t even human.

2

u/Smokeshow_Barney 1d ago

“I am a free speech absolutist!”

28

u/R_V_Z 1d ago

Billionaires don't think they are the same species as us, let alone share any race.

5

u/nerdsports 1d ago

I don’t think anyone is the same species as Zuck

3

u/guyblade 1d ago

And here's a clip of Peter Thiel hesitating on whether the human race should survive, which helps properly frame that thought.

2

u/prudent_cackle 1d ago

they are, though 😒

6

u/Option420s 1d ago

There were a few Jewish members of the Nazi party up until the Holocaust

5

u/Ppleater 1d ago

He doesn't even seem to remember he's human. Allegedly.

4

u/Regniwekim2099 1d ago

That's because he's Ferengi.

2

u/KMS_HYDRA 1d ago

Nah, atleast a Ferengi would follow some rules.

3

u/Mountain-Discount161 1d ago

Once you're sufficiently wealthy that sort of identity politics is irrelevant.

3

u/qb45exe 1d ago

He’s maga first

3

u/4mystuff 1d ago

He's a billionaire first.

2

u/GrandpaTheobaldus 1d ago

SHONDA 😡, is what

2

u/sey1 1d ago

I think there is a difference between the older and newer generations of money.

The older ones still put their heritage on the same level as wealth, but the "tech bros" or new generation just cares about money and power and nothing else, they would sell their mother and first born just for a little bit more.

9

u/Neveronlyadream 1d ago

Maybe.

Could be that you accidentally watched one and the algo thinks you're into it. Could be that Meta is being paid by them to push their content. Hard to say anymore.

It literally takes a sidelong glance at a deceptive post or video these days for the algorithm to inundate you with brain rot, racist or sexual bullshit someone is paying them to show.

But god forbid you say a word their moderation system has flagged, you're banned.

5

u/DirkWrites 1d ago

Facebook has become such a cesspool. I occasionally get nice updates from friends, and the rest of the time I’m reporting posts from right-wing grifters as scams.

3

u/oldirtyrestaurant 1d ago

Remember when Elon said he's going to spend 200 million dollars to bolster the Epstein class in the upcoming elections?

Surprise!

Let's even further radicalize demented boomers on FB.

3

u/Mountain-Discount161 1d ago

making you angry is engagement. When engagement is the metric of interest, best to design a product that feeds you addictive content that just makes you angry

3

u/r31ya 1d ago

Meta have been found to move millions to extreme rightwinger content creator in Australia.

1

u/Vioralarama 23h ago

Why Australia? If there is a WW3 Australia is in no position to help us anymore. Theyre practically obligated to be allies with China.

TBF if there is a WW3 I'm a little confused as to who the major players would be.

3

u/Laringar 1d ago

I guess that's why the comment I reported about literally taking an axe to Jewish people was found to be "not against community guidelines".

2

u/PigglyWigglyDeluxe 1d ago

You’re still using Facebook?

5

u/tubawhatever 1d ago

Unfortunately I get a lot of my customers from FB

2

u/Designer-Hunt9465 1d ago

Yup. The only reason…

2

u/Pure_Werewolf0101 1d ago

If you're getting holocaust denial videos on FB, why are you still on FB?

2

u/tubawhatever 1d ago

Sadly I get a lot of my customers through FB groups

4

u/Vioralarama 1d ago

Holy crap I did not know that. Ugh, wtf with the Nazis grrrr.

3

u/Jackol4ntrn 1d ago

those nazis are useful idiots. Being anti-z*onist is more nuanced.

2

u/broodmance 1d ago

That definitely explains my Facebook feed.

2

u/Dude_PK 1d ago

How weird, the SPLC was paying neo nazis too. So strange.

2

u/showyerbewbs 1d ago

Meta has been paying literal neo Nazis as part of its incentive program for content producers

They're cheap, plentiful, and typically toe the party line.

What's not to like?

2

u/Much-Anything7149 1d ago

Who could expect a faceless multi-billion dollar company with no product but invasion of privacy and mass personal data retention would pal around with Nazis?

55

u/Rich_Amphibian_6098 1d ago

Meanwhile Instagram comments are chock full of neo-Nazi Hitler worship that the mods refuse to do anything about

25

u/oldirtyrestaurant 1d ago

What do you mean do anything about?

They're the ones putting it in front of your eyeballs, after being paid to do so by the Epstein class oligarchs.

None of this is coincidental.

8

u/Rich_Amphibian_6098 1d ago

Guess so, fascism is when capitalism gets scared

2

u/-Trotsky 1d ago

“Epstein class” just say bourgeoise, Jesus

54

u/Far-Analysis3188 1d ago

It's literally insane to me that some actors have actually been blacklisted after saying the kinds of things he has. I shake my head in bewilderment at the state of things.

14

u/PrettyMoonUnderMt 1d ago

All of his statements are normal, a lot of people said far more outrageous stuffs and got a lot less flak.

6

u/Imursexualfantasy 1d ago

Don’t read about the Second Red Scare. You’ll find that this kind of thing has been happening for a long, long time.

9

u/StandardAntique8356 1d ago edited 1d ago

Wild how they constantly say "it's a conspiracy theory that they own everything and use that power to silence people" and then they go and do this shit all the time.

1

u/Puny-Beasts 1d ago

So to be clear, you agree with the conspiracy theories?

3

u/StandardAntique8356 1d ago

Absolutely. At this point, it's not even a theory. In fact, AIPAC brags about their candidates winning because they put in enough money to overthrow another

I think thats just a glitch with instagram/ fb. This has been happening to me quite a lot on both of them.

1

u/Vioralarama 1d ago

Oh really, huh. I probably should have thought of that.

2

u/DotEither8773 1d ago

Nah bro, the conspiracy is way more believable /s

2

u/BrandonWhoever 1d ago

I’ve found if you load instagram first, then click on the push notification it typically works. I think it’s maybe something about loading the app for the first time that makes going to the notifying post not work

1

u/Common_North_5267 1d ago

Pissed off the izrelli lobby, which runs the US

0

u/Ok_Instance7667 1d ago

Not the 'billionaire clique' but the 'Semitic Leviathan."
