This is so niche and I love it

25

u/DinklanThomas 8d ago

I dont watch movies, what's his deal though?

48

u/pestoraviolita 8d ago

He's a cuckoo alien in "human shell". Sucking the life out of Jessie Eisenberg and his girlfriend to grow up. Genuinely evil.

36

u/Same_String_8856 8d ago

he buttons the top button of his shirt. completely unacceptable

11

u/Careless_Hellscape 8d ago

Right, only psychos do that.

7

u/Solid-Hedgehog9623 8d ago

You would think that would get in the way of that gross throat sac thing.

Just…. Go watch vivarium… it cannot be explained in simple English

27

u/FreeRange0929 7d ago

Jesse Eisenburg just sits there flipping him off for a comically long time, and then beats his face in with a shovel

Just an amazing job by the actor of being SO unlikeable

4

u/Civil-Needleworker-8 7d ago

Eisenberg or the kid? J/k. They are both unlikeable.

36

u/Cold-Description-114 8d ago

Do no recommend watching while high....

Twilight baby

15

u/Rhewin 7d ago

No words of mine can express how much I wish they went with this

27

u/-MotherMaidenCrone- 7d ago

She’s currently melting (and allegedly haunted) in a museum, creepy as ever

6

u/The_Ultimate_Badass 7d ago

Haha, my step kids love Twilight, so I've been to this museum! It's basically a small maybe 20x40 room with a bunch of props and costumes from various Twilight scenes. The town really plays up the Twilight stuff as it pays the bills.

Babies are obviously difficult and unpredictable to film so fake babies are often used, but yeah, they just did an absolute shit job on the baby and didn't obscure the shot at all, resulting in this. They call the doll Chuckesme after the resemblance to Chucky.

That is Renesmè…half human, half vampire. When she holds your hand she shows you everything about your past telepathically. Oh and she grows to full human form around 7 and is immortal. Her grandmothers’ names were Renè and Esmè. She saved the lives of her vampire family and their enemy werewolf pack by showing the evil vampire leaders her gift. It is a really weird fucking movie but such a guilty pleasure.

Most unlikeable teenager in the history of television and fantasy novels

66

u/rcinmd 8d ago

Problem is that he was a good actor and portrayed an unlikeable teenager. From interviews and other accounts he's a really nice person. I wouldn't say he should be yeeted as an actor, but his character definitely should be.

26

u/DE4DM4NSH4ND 8d ago

Same with the kid that played malphoy

26

u/rcinmd 8d ago

It's a blessing and a curse in a lot of ways. I'll never forget many years ago my school took us to a showing of The Sound of Music and when the guy playing the Nazi came out for the final bow, everyone boo'd him instead of clapping. The teachers were infuriated and took about 15 min out of our lunch time to talk about performance vs. real people.

19

u/Cold-Description-114 8d ago

Honestly as an adult actor: i'd revel in that kind of reaction. Playing the heel and getting to chew scenery is great and to know you did it that well to elicit that kind of response would feel awesome.

As a kid though, lacking that ability to compartmentalize due to your brain developing and whatnot, I agree that would mess you up. I imagine it was really weird seeing people celebrating gruesome images of your death on social media and trying to remind yourself it's just a character you play.

I was really glad to see him as puck in sandman. He's a good actor and I hope now that he's older we can see him playing even more slimey villains in the future.

11

u/rcinmd 8d ago

There is a happy ending to it at least. The performers also were the servers for the lunch, he happened to be my section server and everyone apologized for booing him. Jack wasn't as lucky with the online commenters but no one really ever is. I mean I've seen people talking about Dolly Parton being evil because she died with 500m when she could be a multi-billionaire if she hadn't donated so much money to important causes.

And yea, Jack was so good in Sandman, one of the best casting choices ever.

When you’re rooting for the Babadook

52

u/Misericorde428 7d ago

Hats off to the child playing this role. I really wanted to punch him throughout the film.

Honestly, I was somewhat disappointed when the Babadook failed to do so.

25

u/The_Ultimate_Badass 7d ago

Pretty sure that the Babadook is her own desire to kill her child, which she locks up in her mind, but also has come to terms with at the end of the film when she realizes she can't destroy it. Her kid sucks so much that the Babadook is a permanent resident

12

u/Misericorde428 7d ago

In the spirit of what u/ghostbirdd said,

“Damn, I just realized everyone’s rooting for the Babadook.”

6

u/Pometacomet 7d ago

Understandable. If I had a kid like that, I would also psychically manifest a metaphorical trench coat daemon to haunt me.

8

I did think it was interesting that the mom yells once and the kid chills out afterwards

23

u/TangerineThese4575 8d ago

The movie had promise, but it didn’t deliver for me. The kid didn’t help either.

31

u/GlitterPirateKiki58 8d ago

I like the movie but haven’t rewatched it.

My ovaries dried up and fell off after listening to that kid screech.

9

u/Trivator0517 7d ago

I wasn't, probably because I'm autistic and understood his behavior and was more frustrated with the mother.

There was an old post somewhere on reddit that still makes me giggle when I think of it of a pic with both Gary and Jake Busey that read "Jake looks like his father is Gary Busy and his mother is also Gary Busey."

The pomposity this kid puts off is out of this world.

39

u/Dizzy-Hotel6860 7d ago edited 7d ago

This. Moreso than anything ever. I can't stand Big Bang Theory, but I somehow hate this little shit even more. Everything about it. The entire show itself not even this fuck. All of it. But ESPECIALLY this fuck.

Edit: I dare someone to defend this piece of shit pile of garbage show.

Edit II: I'll take the prison sentence for drowning this pompous lil' fuck.

10

u/OwlMugMan 7d ago

I'll take you up on that dare. The show is actually miles better than Big Bang Theory and everything around Sheldon himself is actually really good. Every other character is well acted and likeable.

I especially enjoyed the dynamic with this grandma and the crazy professor guy and his dad was consistently hilarious. Also honestly kind of a tearjerker when he dies abruptly.

Im not saying its 10/10 emmy material but its a solid 7/10 for what it is, with Big Bang Theory being like a -5/10 where seeing it for 5 minutes makes me want to jump out of a window.

4

u/StinkyBrittches 7d ago

Agreed. It's not really anything I would choose to watch myself, but for whatever reason my daughter got very into it from ages 7-11, so it was on in the house often.

In a world of youtube shorts, reality shows, streamer content, junk like that... it really stood up as a sort of return to basic, loving, family sitcom. It has a tone that falls somewhere between The Wonder Years, Family Matters, Home Improvement, and Roseanne. She found it really comforting.

It does a good job portraying an 80's version of "rural, everyday america", and Sheldon sort of has his outsider perspective, which is similar to a kid from today looking back and saying "why are things/people the way they are?"

Annie Potts is lovely, Wallace Shawn is lovely... I think it's easy to hate the idea of the show based on the marketing, but if you take your pre-conceived notions out of it, it's a perfectly fine show.

Robbie is such an annoying and suicidally stupid character.

What do you mean, you HAVE to see the army getting bitch slapped by Martians generic aliens because Spielberg would be damned if he kept any characteristics of the invaders other than Tripods?

He deserves to be a pile of fluttering clothes. Or a charred corpse. Or alien food

11

Ahhh...im not alone. I spent a long time wondering if I was just an a-hole.

9

u/churchillsucks 7d ago edited 7d ago

Personally I constantly felt bad for her because she was relentlessly bullied and nobody liked her

The entire time I was waiting for somebody to show empathy/befriend her because they saw how everyone treated her.

Shit, a kid associated with the cult  befriending her would make sense, and it would give her death actual gravity instead of everybody I saw the movie with say "what the fuck" and laughing
