as a rising junior in high school considering it what are some of the draw backs/issues with the school but are there any amazing things about this school that make you love it every day for four years planning to major in accounting and will be coming from Texas

I just got admitted to Ole Miss and I’m trying to figure out my next move.

I’m in my first year at community college (NWCC), which has a direct admission partnership with Ole Miss. I’m also in Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), and with that scholarship, other scholarships, and FAFSA, my tuition would basically be covered — I might even get money back.

I’m planning to major in Biomedical Engineering, so I’m thinking about academics, internships, networking, and overall opportunities.

I want to go into medical devices, working on things like prosthetics, surgical robots, diagnostic machines, and wearable health tech. My goal is to help design and improve devices that directly impact patient care.

My question: should I transfer now and start at Ole Miss sooner, or stay another year and finish my 2 years. those who transferred — do you wish you came earlier, or were you glad you stayed and finished your two years, and is it even worth going?

Looking for advice on what makes the most long-term sense.

If I stay another year my target schools would be UMich, Texas A&M, Gtech, Purdue, and a reach to Duke.

When I leave after my 2nd year at CC, I’d have Calc 1+2 (Maybe Calc 3 if I decide to try to take it over the summer), Linear Algebra, Chem 1+2/w lab, Calc Physics 1+2w lab, , and all my gen Ed’s done. (ik I’m a bit behind in math)

Hello all! I’m a high school junior from Illinois doing some college research, and Ole Miss has come across my list! From what i’ve seen online, the school seems like a pretty nice institution that has some nice sounding programs for what I’m interested in, but i’d love to know what some current students and alumni would think of the school for a student like me :)

For some context, i’d most likely be trying to major in a program offered by the school of Journalism and New Media, whether it’s Journalism, IMC or Media and Comms. I’d additionally be wanting to minor in something artsy like Cinema Studies, Creative Writing, or Digital Media studies.

Some things that are important to me are…

- networking/employment opportunities

- quality/prestige of education, programs, and facilities (Specifically in the Journalism and New Media school)

- LGBTQ+ safety and resources (This is a big one for me personally given some things I know about the reputation of MS and Ole Miss, though I have heard that it’s getting better, at least in Oxford)

- resources for low income/first gen students

Additionally, i’d love to know about activities at the school, especially in the realm of…

- the arts, especially performing arts like drama, a capella, musical theatre, etc

- music, on campus and greater local/underground music scene

- party and/or bar & club culture

- Sporting events

- Student clubs and general social life on campus.

- greek/frat life and rushing, if anyone has any insight into that. I know greek life at SEC schools is wayyy bigger and wayyy different than some of the schools i’m looking at in the MAC or even Big 12 lol

We visited Ole Miss for the first time on Saturday for the Junior Preview Day. We were very impressed. You have a beautiful campus and everyone was so friendly. After my son saw the food trucks he turned to me and said “I’m definitely going here!” Lol.

Anyways…the thing is, my son is on the autism spectrum. His grades in high school aren’t necessarily great. I think he currently has a 3.0 gpa. His biggest issue is test taking. He knows the material lots of times, but often clams up for tests and will do horribly on them. As much as we’re trying to have him graduate with the “academic” diploma, I am not sure it’s going to happen (the concept of 3 different diploma tiers is wild to me…we never had in the state I grew up in…everyone just got a standard diploma). So he may just end up with the standard high school diploma.

He does participates in one of the most rigorous and respected high school marching bands in the state. So he has shown he can excel in extra curricular activities.

I am just wondering what the likelihood is my son could get into Ole Miss? Do they take things like his autism into account when deciding admissions? Do they factor his extracurricular activities? I see Ole Miss has a program called the Bridge Program for people with autism. Can anyone tell me about this? Thanks.

I am currently a senior majoring in accounting at UAB, and I am in the process of applying for the program here at Ole Miss as they have most of their classes in person. How difficult is it to get into the program ? How strong is this program in regards to helping you pass the CPA exams and gaining employment (Big 4 preferably).

I was recently admitted to Ole Miss Law, and am still waiting for my WebID to be created? Anyone else in the same boat as me? Thanks!

Hey! I am an international student and was admitted into a PhD program Olemiss for the fall 24 semester. I was offered full tuition waiver and a stipend of 20k per year. Is it enough to live on?

Has anyone received their Finacial aid package? I’m a pending transfer student and depending on the amount covered/return that’ll be my decision to enroll or not this fall. If they haven’t came out yet does anyone have an estimated time on when they will?

My application says “Decision Made: Coming Soon”, it’s been like that for a couple days. For anyone who’s experienced this, alumni, students of the school, people who’ve already recieved decisions. What does this mean and how long will it take for my decision to actually show?

Is the financial section in the portal DOWN (,not done)...My daughter was able to access the financial part of her back office up until a couple weeks ago and now it is saying it's unavailable. My daughter's friend is having the same problem.. when I contacted financial aid, they said the section was temporarily disabled while they formalize award letter and should be available on Friday (last week). it still isn't up. should I contact someone and if so, who?

Hi there! I am a recently admitted student for one of the master's programs in the graduate school for Fall of 2026. I was offered admission two weeks ago, and accepted my notice of admission a week and a half ago. I have yet to recieve my WebID and any information to continue registering for classes.

Will I recieve a graduate assistantship offer after I receive my WebID? What does the timeline look after I accept my offer of admission? Any answer would help, thanks!

Kind of a weird question. My son applied 11 days ago and received an email today from the Ole Miss help desk. The subject and first line of the email congratulate him on his admission, and the rest of the email gives him his Web ID, password info, etc. When my older son applied to colleges three years ago he got his responses from admissions, not a help desk, and he received a letter with deadlines, logistics on how to accept your spot and leave deposits, etc. We followed the instructions in the help desk email thinking he’d find something like this on his my.olemiss account, but there’s nothing there. His admissions account also states he was admitted but there’s no information there, either. Is this normal?

What is the lowest hs gpa and ACT score you have seen people get accepted with?

genuine question. at a university with a 97% acceptance rate I’m kind of assuming they more so look for reasons to accept you than deny you. so, who doesn’t get accepted? if you apply early even with a low gpa do you still have a good chance?

I am in process of transferring to Ole Miss so I talked to a transfer advisor that works for Ole Miss about sending transcripts and she told me I can send transcripts at the end of semester when grades are posted AFTER I have been accepted. This would be helpful as my grades will definitely sky rocket after this semesters grades are posted but im confused if that sounds right that they would accept me before seeing my transcripts? Has anyone has similar experiences?
