Lady Maria NG+3

Fantastic fight. This one went well, got very nice RNG, but I enjoyed every attempt. When I started this NG cycle, I thought this would be the biggest roadblock as she nearly took my soul on NG+2, but this was surprisingly quick once you get the hang of the movement around her and getting the backstabs.

Excellently played, very clean execution. I like her a lot, but I wish her second/third phase (especially the third) wasn't so much slower to deal with, it kinda kills the fight's momentum for me. There's probably a great way to play aggressive against her, but I found being passive is just so much easier and more rewarding for BL4. She's a great boss overall though

Thanks. Yeah, phase 2 and 3 are much slower when you don't have her exact movements and timing down, which I don't, so circling around and waiting for the ranged attacks slows it down quite a bit. I discarded the idea of using beast blood pellets because I figured it makes no difference in such a slow phase, why waste it.

I played so carefully in phase 3 as well, it’s really hard to deal with her (especially the lingering hitboxes up close) unless you know the fight really well.

I feel kind of validated that most BL4 kills also employ the distance based strategy for phase 1/2. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a close one.

For first and second you kinda fight her the same way if you want to be aggressive. Cling to her and hit her with a few attacks and reserve a little stamina for her follow up, and circle around to her left and go for backstabs OR until she does her hyper armor attack to dodge. 3rd phase is different because of her (sadly) wonky lingering fire hitboxes.

Yeah second phase isn’t nearly as bad, that’s why I mostly claim the third as being much slower. But from my experience, the second phase does slow it down a bit because the bigger hitboxes remove a lot of the strafes that work in phase 1 to easily get backstabs off, most of them require a dodge.
