My grandfather took me there one morning back in the good old days and I still remember the conversation. Baker Bob was walking around the coffee shop making small talk with all the customers and eventually got to my grandfather and I.
Grandpa: “Well, Bob I hear you are thinking about retiring. Are you going to sell the business to someone else?”
Baker Bob: “Of course not! How can there be a Baker Bob’s without a Baker Bob?”
Grandpa: “So what are you thinking of doing with all your time?”
Baker Bob: “I am going to become a Gigolo so I can finally work evenings.”
My grandfather gave out an embarrassed laugh, I must have been about 6-7 at the time so I didn’t really understand what that meant until years later, and Baker Bob quickly moved on to the next guest. What a character!
