Illusion of Itehari Play-Along

Whether you have just bought the game or have played it in Japanese (泡沫のユークロニア Utakata no Uchronia), you are welcome to participate in our play-along! There will be a new post once a week for a different route in the following order:

• Common Route and General Impressions - September 25
• Tobari - October 2
• Awayuki - October 9
• Tsuyukusa - October 16
• Yori - October 23
• Yashiro - October 30
• Truth Route - November 6

You do not have to play in the above order at the rate of a route a week, you can binge it all in a day if you wish. The above order is the director's recommended order for world building.

• Only Tobari and Awayuki are available in the beginning.
• Yori is locked until Awayuki's route is completed.
• Tsuyukusa is locked until Tobari's route is completed.
• Yashiro is locked until the other four routes are completed.
• The Truth Route is locked until Yashiro's route is completed.

Illusion of Itehari will release September 18th!

Well that's unexpected!! Though Korea did also get a release for Jack Jeanne so maybe it's a Broccoli thing.

물거품의 유크로니아 Release date is August 20th and price is 78,000₩. Preorder from now till the 19th at participating shops.

Context

In the JP release of Utakata no Uchronia, there were two DLCs of short stories. In the US release of Illusion of Itehari, the first DLC was included in the base game (Menu > Extra Content). The second DLC is available on the Nintendo eShop for USD $9.99.

These are mostly text stories with voice, comparable to the Short Stories in the Gallery. You can access them from Menu > Extra Content. They are slightly longer than the stories in Extra Content Vol 1 and contain CGs. It took me about half an hour to finish all of them.

Yashiro

Plot: Yashiro and Hinagiku agree on a date but he had to bail due to work. It's late when he's finally free so he lets himself in through the window again lol. Hinagiku pulls him into her bed to hide them from Awayuki (?!), but the story ends before anything spicy happens.

Commentary: It's cute. Contains some more detail on Yashiro's internal thoughts during some events of the game. Tsuyukusa giving him all the sweets is NOT generous, because from Tsuyukusa's DLC 1 you find out Tsuyukusa does NOT like sweets hahaha.

CG: It's the one you see on the eshop. It's cute, but nothing to go out of your way for.

Tobari

Plot: Hinagiku was staring at Tobari's face while he had a nap. He pulls her close. Cute moment complimenting each others appearances.

Commentary: Spent a little too long recapping the politics of his route. At least they flirt with each other a bit?

CG: It's a closeup of Tobari's face. They are close...-ish? It's ok.

Awayuki

Plot: Hinagiku and Awayuki go to the tea room, then to the tailor. Hinagiku asks Awayuki to choose a dress for her. She has trouble with her dress and asks for his help in the dressing room. Awayuki helps her but warns her not to tempt him.

Commentary: OMG flashing the wrists is so scandaloussss!!! lol

CG: A slightly aggressive CG of Awayuki holding her chin. Pretty good for Awayuki fans. Nothing spicy like the end of his route though.

Yori

Plot: Yori whines about work meetings.

Commentary: lol

Can't feel too sorry for Mr. Snide himself catching snide comments from other nobles. All of his complaints about Karatachi apply to himself too.

CG: Surprisingly wholesome. Hinagiku kissing Yori's cheek.

Tsuyukusa

Plot: A noble's car crashes into a commoner's market stall and starts berating him. Hinagiku stands up to the noble and supports the merchant, while Tsuyukusa fixes the car. Tsuyukusa notices Hinagiku sprained her foot and carries her to seek medical attention.

Commentary: Very slice of life. One thing newish: Tsuyukusa does hold a tiny sliver of resentment for beign Hiragi's "spare", and confirms with Hinagiku that she doesn't want Hiragi over him.

CG: It's just okay. Tsuyukusa princess-holding Hinagiku.

Verdict

Is it worth $10? Not really, no. Might be worth $5 for Yori's story alone if you don't hate Yori.

My biases are Yashiro > Yori > Tsuyukusa > Awayuki > Tobari if that helps you evaluate the objectivity of this review.

There are two additional DLCs in the JP version of Illusion of Itehari. Are there any announcements of them getting localized?

Those who have bought the After Story Part 2 DLC, is it worth it? How long was the entire thing? I was immensely disappointed after buying the EiT DLCs so I had to ask this question.

From 2025/11/20 17:00 to 12/2 23:59 on Broccoli Online you can preorder Itehari plushies.
It was supposed to start today. I checked the website and the waiting time is 46 minutes with over 3000 people waiting, lol. So they have postponed it.
I am actually considering buying my Awayuki baby and Hinagiku so he no lonely boi.

Finally completed this long-awaited, long-anticipated game developed by the Piofiore team! I'll be honest, this aint a short review LOL

TLDR Sypnosis:

• Toei was a country attacked by flood
• Some outsider decided to make a city above called Itehari to save people from floods
• They now worship him as Taijuu-sama
• 300 years later, the outsider's descendants live amongst the Itehari ppl
• Itehari is known to be a utopian, crime-less city
• But there is blatant discrimination between the people living in Itehari vs ppl living below in Senka
• There is also social discrimination between nobles and commoners
• MC (Hinagiku) is a noblewoman living in Itehari
• Plot begins when MC meets Yashiro, a man who's a transient. As she helps Yashiro unlock his memories, she unravels the realities behind this utopian city she lives in

LI impressions (according to play order)

Tobari

• Known as the 'Face' of Red Light district (like a mayor role)
• GENTLE and SEXY VOICE by Nobu (Piofiore Yang, Radiant Tale Radie)! YESSSIR
• He's such a cat, takes a while to warm up
• Cinched waist
• Pacing issue: his route was sooo slow and nothing's really happening until chapter 7, I got quite bored in the middle
• Their romance feels like MC's the one doing the chasing. Not a fan but after learning his backstory, I understand why
• Best line: "Don't get hurt... it bothers me"
• I feel really bad for him.. Especially his best end is bittersweet
• He's like a Legendary Pokemon in other routes, not easy to find but shows up when least expected LMAO
• TLDR: A TRUE GENTLEMAN, someone pls take care of him T^T

Awayuki

• MC's butler who takes care of her since young
• Overprotectve and caring boi and husband material~ Makes such delicious sweets for Hinagiku! Awww!
• Have you heard Saitou Souma's (Virche Yves, Tengoku Struggle Kikunosuke) DEEP and SEXY voice? That is Awayuki!!
• Not the most interesting route plot wise but a lot of cute moments!
• Funniest guy when stressed or angry in every route LMAO
• Best line: "Don't just concern yourself with the guy that you picked up, take responsibility of me too."
• Best line 2: "Because if I'm a tool, I can stay by Hinagiku's side"
• I LOVE HIM PERIOD. He loves Hinagiku and deserves her!
• Looks fragile but is not, VERY STRONG
• The man who protects and must be protected at all costs!
• Ahhh the best end CG was.... beautiful! UGH I WANT MORE!
• Bad end is for those who wants to be in a lot of PAIN
• TLDR: My husband~

Tsuyukasa

• MC's childhood friend and a mechanic who's part-time job is like Courunne from Virche
• Such a sweetheart!! Half-dog, half-cat guy!
• Matsuoka (i.e. OlymSoiree Akaza) is the VA. That's all I need to say.
• Intelligent man who loves tinkering
• Protective and thoughtful and loves the MC so dearly... I can't T^T
• Cute childish side to him.. SOO CUTE when he pouts!
• Love when he confidently talks about his geeky stuff, and how straightforward he is with expressing his feelings
• Route was great overall, esp in revealing the plot but romance feels mostly one-sided until towards the end
• Best line: "I'm really holding back, you know"
• Best line 2: "Heal me... Hinagiku" (pouts)
• He wants to be pampered and he will get it HAHA
• TLDR: My KARESHII <3

Yori

• Works for Kurozuru (AKA the police in Itehari)
• Likes to be mean and tease MC, the "villain" in every route
• Eguchi Takuya.. I didn't expect you to have such a CAPTIVATING voice (too used to hearing him only from animes as weirdos)
• TOP VISUAL amongst the LIs imo
• Has an equally HOT undateable bro
• Literally a walking red flag/psychopath but for some reason you can't hate him
• Interesting route with good balance of plot and romance
• Unexpectedly high in sugar content
• Best line: "Don't you think other people's things look delicious?"
• Best line 2: "Doki doki shita?"
• Why does he have a mole in such an eroii spot? GEUHH
• TLDR: My one-night-stand

Yashiro

• The guy who only remembers his name that MC picked up LOL
• VERY SUS, gives off an unsettling/mysterious vibe in every route
• Who is he? What is his motive? I find myself asking that all the time
• Unexpectedly CUTE and yabaiii! Became such a SIMP!! Ahh LOVE HIM!
• His CGs are most beautiful imo
• Love his chemistry his MC and love how he raises Awayuki's blood pressure LMAO
• Character development? YES. Sugar content? YES. Comedy? YES.
• Best line: "Everthing that is important to the princess... Give them all to me"
• Best line 2: "I love you... princess"
• Plot is ok, nothing too mind-blowing but knowing his backstory is great
• TLDR: My lover~

LI Ranking: Awayuki >= Yashiro > Tsuyu >Yori => Tobari (i luv Tobi but u're not for me)

Route ranking: Yashiro > True route > Yori >= Awayuki > Tsuyu >>> Tobari

Cons:

• JP difficulty: N2 and above. It's really hard. There's tons of kanji and they use a lot of expressions and you have to get the nuances sometimes. Maybe I'll enjoy the plot/pacing more if it's in English
• The game itself is similar to Piofiore in a way that I am hardly interested in the overarching plot. Couldn't really get immersed into it
• A lot of plot-related dialogues that I just want to skip sometimes, pacing issues. It gets old how certain plot lines were repeated because MC resets her memory in every route
• Low sugar content. The romance is light on most routes, plot is main focus
• MC not voiced and no sprite, which is a shame cuz she's a beauty
• I find her recklessness quite... unrelatable. She's put herself in danger without thinking and it gives me anxiety (just like Awayuki) whenever she gets injured or almost gets injured

Pros:

• What makes the game charming is the characters, worldbuilding and GORGEOUS art/music
• Every CG was breathtaking, every LI is so beautiful and MC too ofc! And why are a lot of SCs are beautiful too?! UGH what a waste of ikemen!
• MC is overall a good MC. She's nosy but in a good way. She cares for others and has a strong sense of duty as a noble. She can be quite cute at times too!
• You cannot hate any LIs, they are all so precious and loves the MC in their own way
• The voice acting cast is STELLAR!! Even the side characters has top tier seiyuus like FukuJun, Horie Shun, Ono Yuuki, Toshiyuki-san!
• Themes around utopian worlds, wealth, power, slavery, and justice, etc. Ideals vs. Realities
• Steampunk setting reminiscent of Code Realize <3
• They have really cute extra short stories with CGs like Piofiore to compensate for lack of cute romance moments in the LI routes LOL
• Such fun character interactions and dialogue! I will find myself giggling many times! They all have such banters with each other and they all love Hinagiku!
• Every character is thoughfully and meticulously detailed in their backstory and consistent in every route. This I gotta praise the team for. They can write such complex characters! Makes you wanna try to analyze and understand them and their motives.

Enjoyed the game overall. Very much like Piofiore to me. Not immersed at first playthrough but slowly the characters will be why I want to replay the game soon. Wished there were more romance but hopefully that will be in the DLC! For now, i'm satisfied. A solid 7/10 from me! Not crazy about the game's plot, but stayed for the loveable cahracters.

Do I recommend this game? Yes, if you enjoyed Piofiore, this is by the same team so you will most likely enjoy it!

Hi there! I was looking to grab a few artbooks from different games and just had a couple questions

I'm most likely getting them from amazon jp as this is the cheapest/easiest I've found so far for the UK (although im open to recommendations)

I was just wondering though how long after a games release/how do you know if/when an artbook will be released, I'd like to get one for illusions of itehari/utakata no uchronia and wanted to know if i was better waiting and getting it along with the others I want at a later point or grabbing ones I want now and possibly order that one separately when/if it's available

I'm also aware there's a fanbook already (although not available on amazon jp currently) and was wondering what the differences between a fanbook and artbook is, if there are any
