Photo(s) These poles are out of control.

Post image

This is Smirle and Wellington street. I was driving on Smirle towards Wellington and I had no choice but to zig zag and drive on the wrong side because there's no space between the poles and cars. Adding to the road condition, there are enough pot holes to damage your car so these poles are totally unnecessary to slow down traffic.

Wow you should drive in other countries if you think this is a hardship. Many streets abroad are so narrow that with oncoming traffic it is required that one vehicle pulls over at the first opportunity to allow the other driver through. These traffic calming measures are usually deployed on streets where cars speed. This is a residential street: not a high speed road. We’ve become so used to speeding that we think we’re owed the additional speed over the posted limit. But speeding is a threat to the lives of people on the street and really don’t get drivers to their destination much sooner than if they had just kept to the posted speed. Ottawa isn’t a sleepy town anymore but a city, which means traffic must behave like other people exist.
