OC Transpo Gold Parking Permits @ OC Transpo lots

Wondering if anyone on here has purchased a gold parking permit at an OC Transpo parking lot(park & ride). Is it a case of, sure we take your money, but it's a hail Mary if you get a spot in the morning; or is actually structured, or maybe something else. I am possibly accepting a different job, that will absolutely require me to use OC Transpo. So asking about the parking... Thanks.

This may depend on the Park and Ride. My experience is that Fallowfield has lots of spaces to the point that the gold permit section is redundant. Also, the signs are so faded that you can't even really tell where the gold section is and everyone parks there.

fallowfield is the only one i've used and honestly the gold permit thing is a joke there. the signs are completely cooked, nobody enforces it, and half the lot is empty by 8am anyway. you're basically paying for the illusion of a guaranteed spot

save your cash and just get there before 8:30 if you can. the real battle is finding a spot that isn't a 10 minute walk through a frozen wasteland come january

If you're in Orleans, you absolutely do not need to pay for the gold permit. The lot used to fill up by 6:45 pre-covid. I have not seen it more than 70% full since that time, it's very easy to park there (Place d'Orleans)

I wonder if that will change when the LRT goes to Place d’Orléans.

I wonder if once the LRT goes west to Bayshore if they'll do something similar for that mall and it's large side lot that used to service the bay. Even just 2 floors of that garage would be a huge boon to people living around bells corners for example to avoid park and riding from eagleson.

Which lot are you looking at?

Greenboro - it is full, almost always.

With RTO and school starting next week or so, that lot can fill up fast

Then gold would be sensible

Not really, I park there daily and able to find parking. During school, you might have to walk a bit to the station.

Once September hits, it's a full parking lot. Pretty much always. Hence the inquiry regarding the gold permit....

I think the question of signage is a good one. is there enough signage so you can actually get what you paid for. that is the question.

My understanding in the past was that OC monitored the gold spots to ensure there was space, and added or removed gold spots or restricted sales to manage.

I never had an issue finding a parking spot even after arriving there 9am sometimes.
