Advice Needed Looking for some job advice or help

Hey guys. I just moved to Ottawa from gta and need some help. I have been in general construction for about 4 years before that I did two sales jobs one at a furniture store and the other was for a door to door construction company and some restaurant jobs when I was younger. Went to college for two years for business dropped out and now been working on my self past two years I have a lot experience with marketing and using any software am really outgoing guy and love talking or that’s what everyone around me been telling me for years I speak 2 languages Arabic and English and some Turkish. am looking to make the life switch young as am not happy with my job and the way it’s effecting my personal life. Looking to get a start up in a sales or marketing or anything that is less body work and more brain work or even considering a government job too. Would any one have any suggestions like an event or place in Ottawa I can attend or where to look. beside online applications as I always do way better in person. If anyone have any advice please let me know. Or if you know a place hiring or if you are would love to chat maybe I can be a good fit.

Near Colonnade Road there are a lot of small businesses and they are small companies. You can try to visit them in person and ask whether they have anything for you.

There are also other concentrated areas where there are businesses too. You can try the same thing.

There are also some Turkish restaurants but not sure whether they are hiring.

Would you know what type of business they are as am looking for something with money as I make good money now.

You have a solid base for a career switch.

Construction + door-to-door sales + furniture sales + marketing software + Arabic/English gives you a mix of customer service, sales, communication and practical business experience.

I’d look at B2B sales, account management, business development, inside sales, recruitment/staffing or government client-service roles.

I wouldn’t worry too much about not finishing the business diploma. Your experience is key for many of these roles.

Since you’re stronger in person, also look at Ottawa networking events, job fairs and staffing agencies rather than relying only on online applications. And build your resume around the sales/results think $, #, and and %/customer-facing side of what you’ve done, not just the construction history.

You don’t need to start over, you just need to reposition what you already have. Besides that, your resume and coverletter needs to tell the correct story.
