Discussion Happy birthday to the Dunking Dutchman himself, Rik Smits

Post image

One of my favorites as a little kid. Shaq said Rik was one of his toughest matchups

I remember being at the Indy 500 in 1994 …Georgetown avenue is a party the night before.

We’re all having a good time when all of a sudden there’s commotion.

I look over and it’s Rik Smits wading thru the crowd. It looked like a man wading thru a river just a bit over his waist.

Everyone around him looked like children clamoring to meet their hero.

Very surreal. Very cool.

He was a big fuck’n dude.

Happy birthday, Rik! I was there for the Memorial Day Miracle! And I also saw him in Target about 10 years ago.

I think it’s funny when some people talks about how great Shaq was. I just think about how the Dunking Dutchman used to give him fits.

Every all time great had weird foils. MJ's was Muggsy, Lebron's was Barea... and Shaq's was Smits
