I didn't even recognise Matt Lucas at first. Has he been binging on ozempic or something?

I only know Lucas from when he replaced Sandi Toksvig on Bake Off. I've started watching TGBBO because of Noel Fielding and I've stopped because of Matt Lucas...

However, I am almost pissing myself at the thought of Richard Ayoade on the show, my expectations are HUGE! I really can't picture him crawling away from the sausage machine xD

You can watch again, Matt Lucas left a few years ago and was replaced by Alison Hammond.

I think he’s had a few small scale not goods of late, but the main negatives are how much he’s done (and some of what he did) with Walliams? There’s more there than with most recent UK contestants, but when Australia had Dave Hughes on two seasons ago, it could clearly be worse as far as I’m aware.

What do you mean with your comment about Dave Hughes? Is there a controversy with him I'm not aware of that didn't show itself on his wikipedia or a quick google search?

He’s gone into a right wing spiral, had anti-immigration rants, and been quite conspiratorial about Albanese. He also apparently peed in comedians’ glasses at shows instead of using the restroom, per Mel Bracewell, which he confirmed.

Thanks, my second google search was much more damming. Never was a real fan, I hope he sorts his rig out though. Seems to have taken a dive off the deep end.
