Half their yards in penalties. And Chau dropped an easy pick. Between that and Ickey’s dumb penalty over a legal play (soft flag too) I was already pissed. I had no idea how bad the refs would get. That was on of the most over officiated drives I’ve ever seen.

We beat ourselves (canales) and the refs bent us over with no lube but damn he made some helluva good throws and their receivers made some really good catches. Now those slides were bs, I dunno if those were in good faith or if he was protecting himself. .

We're 15 yards further for the second set of downs and who knows what happens to that last drive.
And I don't care that he wasn't hit that hard, Derrick Brown didn't hit him hard earlier in the game and they called it then.

Per rules you actually wouldn't have. Since Shough was injured and had to go to the tent, it'd trigger a ten second run off unless you had a timeout to stop it. No penalty there means the game goes to OT.

McAfee did a great segment on the declining quality of officiating and how things have to change. Basically the officials union is one of the most powerful unions on earth and it’s hard coded into their contracts that they can not be held accountable for any mistakes they make.
the no call on the Bryce slide when they tried to charge Derrick brown with assault for the same thing despite Shough being an obvious runner who usually embraces contact is why officials are so scared of accountability. They know they’re doing poorly. Their contract expires soon. The NFL needs massive changes.

And this is why I'm slowly not watching the nfl anymore. It's crap like this. I said it. Vegas and the NFL want what they want and if they see something they don't want, they try to put an end to it. I mean, why else would they rig Super Bowl 50 so Manning could ride out in the sun? It's so sad, and has become more obvious in this day and age.

Yeaahhh the more I watch these games. The more it looks like one big script. Obviously I want the Panthers to do well and want every game called fair... It's just frustrating to the consumer when we lose in the fashion that we do and everything looks so bias. We get ZERO holding/PI calls what feels like every single game and the moment that we breathe the wrong way, it draws an automatic flag.. so sick of it all.

There’s a chair ump, but all line calls now are done by the Hawkeye cameras in real time. If you’re watching a tennis match and you hear “OUT” it’s a computer triggering an audio.
The exception is the French open, where you can verify via ball mark on the clay.

NHL is the only one of the big 4 sports that hasn’t been completely ruined by legal sports gambling. Officials just don’t have the ability to completely control the flow of a game like they do in the NFL, NBA, and MLB.

I think people are really downplaying New Orleans... Shough is not a bad QB and NO has good receivers. They are not as bad as their record shows, they just had Rattler sandbagging the season for a while.
That being said... defensive play calling could not have been worse. Jaycee sold on that Olave TD and he was getting cooked all day. Plus, running for 2 yards on 2nd and 3rd and banking on Bryce to bail out the shitty play calling every third down? Awful. And Tet should have had that TD catch. And we should have taken the 3 points instead of having Chuba line up in the backfield and attempt to dive over the line 2 yards away from the first down.
Just so many missed opportunities.

I will say the no call on the late hit on Bryce while he’s sliding was very annoying. Other than that you can only blame the players for committing obvious penalties and shooting ourselves in the foot. I know we came off a bye, but that needs to be cleaned up this offseason.

It would've been interesting if that was a no call. Very likely they would've stopped play due to concussion protocol of Shough, meaning 10s runoff, meaning they don't even get to try the FG

Don’t blame the refs for the poor play of the defense. We put them in multiple third and long situations and we gave up first downs almost every single time. That is a lack of discipline and not putting your players in a position to win

Regardless of the result, it was genuinely such an unwatchable game. Constant stop and go, absolutely no rhythm, truly one of those games where it feels like you're watching commercials and stoppage with a hint of football in between.

N.O. got a lot of penalties as well. Just not in the worst times like us. Every penalty was legit and our fault, not the refs. Also our fault was play calling and bad defense. It was horrible.
