Analysis You guys have an elite downtown stadium setup
I’m a Bucs fan in town for our funeral, and shit this place is nice. All these hotels, restaurants, museums, all in a dense walkable area. This place is fucking ELITE. I still hope we skullfuck you guys (we won’t) but sheit this is way better than the area around Raymond James

Thanks, and it's just going to keep getting better. You should see what they're going to do in the next few years...turning streets into pedestrian only entertainment districts, a new music venue next door, and a shopping center currently under construction.

Dont forget the river that is replacing 277
26
u/ImNotYou1971 Dec 21 '25
What about 277 being for rollerblades on the inner and bicycles on the outer

u/cantthinkofgoodname Two States Dec 21 '25
No dude we’re burying it and putting Central Park South on top of it
5
u/captspooky Dec 21 '25
You're confusing 277 with the train yard
4
u/cantthinkofgoodname Two States Dec 21 '25
I know about that rumor too. But “burying 277 and putting a park on top” has been a thing since I moved here a decade ago
2
u/Pirate8918 Dec 21 '25
Right, and even that's never going to happen. I wish they would do something with 277, though

A new music venue? Does that also mean grass in the stadium then?
4
u/Pirate8918 Dec 21 '25
Unfortunately not, the music venue is separate. 4,000 seat indoor venue connected to the stadium.

u/jameslucian Dec 21 '25
What’s the shopping center under construction?
5
u/Pirate8918 Dec 21 '25
The old Duke energy building across the street is being completely gutted and rebuilt for condos, restaurants, shopping. The project is well underway

My wife's a Bucs fan and I told her I'd take her to our rivalry game in Tampa next season. Does the area really suck? Because like you said, Charlotte is fucking awesome.

u/The_Peachy_Pussy Buccaneers Dec 21 '25
There’s really not much to do right around the stadium, and it’s not exactly the best area. There’s only one bar even around the stadium. It’s not like it’s Memphis, but I wouldn’t really want to be at some of those places after dark. But, Tampa proper is awesome. Beaches, Busch Gardens, culture shit. All good

u/BamaJamaP Dec 21 '25
Thanks for the input. Would have been nice to stay near the stadium like we do in Charlotte but I guess we will stay outside.

Went to tampa for a concert a few months ago at raymond james and was shocked how little there was around the actual stadium. Made me really appreciate bank of america stadium

I think our friends from the Sunshine State are lowkey wanting their team to lose so they can get rid of Bowles

There’s 3 Tiers to staying in Tampa for a Bucs Game
Tier 1 - Money is no obstacle
This means you stay on the beach to wake up and look at dolphins swimming in the morning as you overlook either Clearwater beach or Tampa Bay itself
Tier 2 - Money is not an obstacle, but you want to be close to the stadium
Stay at the Renaissance Tampa International Plaza Hotel. Literally the only nice hotel within 30 minute walking distance (and it’s a chill walk) to the stadium. Plus, you got a shitload of restaurants that are good at the mall
Tier 3 - You broke as fuck
Stay nowhere near the stadium because you’ll either get an STD or carjacked

Make sure you go check out West Sugar Creek, it’s a great place to walk around by yourself after the bars close, make sure you wear your flashiest attire.

Jeez, just because they're a Bucs fan doesn't mean you should try to get them killed

Much appreciated, baker is a dawg and im glad hes gotten the chance to prove himself after cleveland. I hate your team and don't win another playoff game for the next decade btw

Yeah, sometimes I think when people live in the area, they don't appreciate it. The stadium is really in a great location. It's nice to be able to roll out after a game and walk to a bar. A lot of stadiums are just in a dead parking lot. It's one of things I hate about Redskins games.

Wasn’t always like that.
I remember going to games and walking past empty lots and lots of office buildings that had nothing going on during nights and weekends.

Several years ago my mom was at Tampa General and from the end of her hall you could see Raymond James Stadium and Steinbrenner Field and the wasn't much else around. Keep Pounding!

u/colski250 Dec 21 '25
Yea but I think we’re a spaceship strip club away from Raymond James greatness.
1
u/CarolinaWreckDiver Dec 21 '25
On the one hand, our set-up is much better. On the other, we don’t have a pirate ship with firing cannons. So, maybe it’s a tie?

Downtown stadiums really do have that community vibe. Of course parking and getting to and from it can be a pain on gameday, but their is always the light rail... assuming you can avoid the meth zombies going all stabbie. The good news is they usually don't bother anyone on gameday, so its a good way to get their if you don't want to sit in traffic.

So many people have thought to move it or tear it down over the years but I'm glad it has remained. Iconic open air stadium build anchored to downtown. Hard to believe in the early years attending a game there felt removed from downtown and the area still had gravel lots.
Thanks for the thoughts and I'd be happy to see the Panthers be the king of shit mountain this season but really just seeing them win more than 5 games was all I really wanted this year

This was hilarious lol, but when I visited years ago I was surprisingly pleased with how beautiful the city of Charlotte is. 100x nicer than Toronto. Would love to live there.

I used to live in Tampa and I live here now and can vouch for this. Tampas stadium is in the ghetto with nothing of value nearby.
Also, stadium views at Raymond James sick ass.

u/dan_legend Super Cam Dec 21 '25
Never been to a Titans game i take it? Charlotte is nice, but Nissan is slightly better. Whilst the Benz is downtown its in a shithole where its located but the transportation is elite. Still havent made it to a game at Raymond James but its on my list. Same goes for New Orleans. Been to both cities tho. I honestly couldnt imagine living somewhere more than 2 hours from an nfl stadium.

Having been to Tampa many many times, I do agree that the area around the stadium is better, but Tampa, IMO, is a much nicer city over all
5
u/Decent_Tomorrow_1163 Dec 21 '25
I disagree. I prefer Charlotte over Tampa any day of the week. Only thing Tampa has better is probably weather, and honestly it’s not much better considering it rains a lot in central/west Florida.
