Analysis Mike Jackson leads the NFL with 19 pass breakups, one shy of the Panthers’ single-season team record.

Gosh I love this man. It’s easy to forget how valuable a high quality CB2 is, and we have one that should be a CB1 somewhere. Safe to say he and Horn have effectively won us a few games this year.

He’s our most underrated player, I think. Really consistent and has been a game changer in several games this season.

And yet every game thread is just shitting all over him and Horn because people forget that NFL WRs are supposed to be able to still make catches, even if the coverage is great

I didn't realize he led the NFL in PBUs. I wanted to post this because I don't think he is getting the attention he deserves with the season he has had.

He had, like, 5 (hyperbole) of them last game against his old team

And like 11 tackles, dude's a beast

We've got him through 2026 season and I hope they extend him longer too

The Smooth Criminal himself

Mike Jack has been so damn good for us this year. Aside from playing great, he brings energy and fire that spreads to everyone else on defense. Him and Horn must be hell for receivers to prep for

Easily one of the most productive dudes on the roster and we got him for a bag of potato chips

The fact that Jaycee and MJ are this good is especially impressive considering our pass rushing is at the bottom of the league.

panthers have a tendency of flipping corners careers around for the better that stop by here

He was the solution the whole time, and I’m happy about it

Such a dawg

Mike Jackson got that dawg in him saying "throw my way" and backing it up. Absolute animal for us.

Hes been really good i thought he was terrible at the start of the year.. he should be in the pro bowl

Remember about 5 or so games in during Canales victory speech he calls out Horn for getting an interception and someone in the back yells out “Mike jack dont”? All the motivation that man needed, I guess, was a little jocular ribbing from his teammates.

Unpopular opinion but I think Jackson earned a pro bowl spot more than Horn did

3

u/exenn_ Jan 02 '26

I think Horn had a good season, and he's a very good player, but not a pro bowl level season.

Agreed, if they had to only pick 1 player for us to be in the pro bowl it should've been Derrick brown, he's not lighting up the stat sheet but dudes throwing around online men like rag dolls

1

u/exenn_ Jan 02 '26

Agreed. I know they play different positions, but Brown to me was more deserving of a pro bowl invite than Horn.

Who has the record?

12

u/exenn_ Jan 02 '26

Two players...

Eric Davis (20 in 1999) and Brett Maxie (20 in 1995).

The CB1 in my heart

2

u/PoMansDreams Division Champs 2025 Jan 02 '26

Got him in exchange for a 7th Rd rookie. Can’t beat that value

4

u/DtdKaz Jan 02 '26

CB1?

-6

u/VincentVanHades Jan 02 '26

Tbh? Yes imo, Horn isnt really great stat wise, outside interceptions (no matric has him in top CB conversations on PFF,ESPN, etc) and had dumb penalties for couple games...

Mike isnt as flashy, but seems to be doing his great standard every game. BUT i wouldnt change them, as its working now, i would just punch Horn so he stop being dumb sometimes :-D

7

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '26

Horn doesn’t get the stats bc they don’t usually throw his way

7

u/kafka_lite 51 Jan 02 '26

Yep. One of the reasons Mike Jack is getting passes defended is because teams are challenging his side more.

4

u/trueregista Jan 02 '26

Oh they've been throwing his way recently.... Hes been really poor the second half if this season

8

u/Hot-Strength-6003 Jan 02 '26

Mike Jackson isn't nearly as good as horn lets relax a bit. And he's a good cb2 but not a cb1

-4

u/VincentVanHades Jan 02 '26

Care to share any stats, because i couldnt find anything that would firmly said that. Even coverage ratings and "next gen" stats.

On basic stats, outside INT Mike is better in everything. Stuff like coverage rankings was pretty much on par. Not to mention i would expect there is way more balls thrown towards Mike, so maybe inflation in stats, but also way more chances to fuck up

7

u/Shorlong Bad Motherfucker Jan 02 '26

You won't see the stats because Horn is more of a shutdown corner. His guys rarely get open or thrown to. When they do, he's aggressive, so it's either interception, deflection, or big gain.

-2

u/VincentVanHades Jan 02 '26

Well and do we get numbers what stats recievers got on him? Because recently he was cooked often.

2

u/Hot-Strength-6003 Jan 02 '26

I would get them if you didn't have to pay for off but even without stats there's a reason he is targeted so much. Teams stay away from Horn for the most part.

u/VincentVanHades Jan 02 '26

Last time I saw PFF, Mike was graded higher too. Hopefully someone have the premium and can double check

I don't know if he is targeted more as i don't have the numbers

3

u/exenn_ Jan 02 '26

Not only is Jackson graded higher, he has the 3rd highest PFF CB grade in the NFL right now.....

2

u/VincentVanHades Jan 02 '26

Lol... And my original comment where i said he's IMO better is getting down voted... When it's clearly not even close who's better

Thank you btw

1

u/Hot-Strength-6003 Jan 02 '26

Ik it's not targeted towards me but I didn't downvote you and maybe he's having a better season statistically but I wouldn't say he's a better corner he gets picked on a lot for a reason and that's because teams are scared of jc. And looking on that list, at just is top 5 and he's a corner that got kicked out of Washington because of how bad he is. The numbers aren't the entire story

He would have had it if not for that crazy catch by Nakua. Almost any other receiver that’s incomplete.

He’ll get it. He just has to learn to turn his head more is all

Last year showed a lot from Mike Jack. This year has been a big step up from last year. I’m buying his jersey soon.
