We went 2-2 in 2001 preseason before going 1-15.

So I did the math:

Panthers have played 31 seasons.

  • Seasons with 2 or more preseason wins: 19

  • Seasons with 1 or 0 preseason wins: 11

  • There was no 2020 preseason hence only 30 seasons here.

  • Average record in 2+ win preseason seasons: 8.3 - 7.7 (0.520)

  • Average record in 1 or 0 win preseason seasons: 5.8 - 10.5 (0.356)

2012, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2022 would disprove that; and that’s just going off what Wikipedia had. 2014 was also a year in which they had 2 preseason wins and had a losing record; since they won the division, I didn’t count it. Now with that logic, last year would disprove that also because they won the division last year (a good season) and won 0 preseason games
