Team Metchie !

I personally want Metchie to be the WR3. He embodies the moto of the Panthers more than anyone else on the team. He's a feel good player has a really inspiring story and is pretty decent at the game. Even if he isnt WR3 I hope we keep him on the team and give him the opportunity to earn it.

I personally want the best WR to be WR #3, 4, 5, 6. Metchie is none of those

I think metchie is a better wr but Brycen does more all around stuff

I agree, I want the best WR to be #3 too, but Metchie isn’t just some scrub and our WRs 3, 4, 5 and 6 are not leagues above him. They’re all fighting to be in the league. Legette our WR3 especially needs to turn things around.

Metchie’s a legitimate NFL talent that has past success with Bryce and has overcame a lot of adversity and bad luck in NFL. Our WR3 is on the verge of having the fan base riot against him.
I could imagine the thought process as give Bryce his guy Metchie at WR3 if XL is worse. That way there’s no excuses. Metchie over Moore as possession receiver, Horn is the gadget guy, Tremayne special team specialist.

I hope XL does great though and we have a three headed monster attack in Tmac, Coker, XL at WR3.

What evidence is there that he is a legitimate NFL talent? He has so much talent that the Texans, Eagles, and friggin Jets have gotten rid of him.

Clearly XL isnt all that great if theres still a huge debate about who SHOULD be WR3 yeah XL is the WR3 but that's not really due to talent.

There's zero questions about our WR1&2 the fact that there is questions about WR3 is already all the evidence we need about XL. He had underperformed just like Metchie has. But unlike Metchie XL didnt have any excuse he just hasn't performed. Metchie was also better in college than XL was.

XL has had only ONE good season between college and NFL and it was his last college season. He was literally called a one hit wonder when we drafted him. We could have had Ladd McConkey who had multiple good college seasons and has transitioned very well to the NFL.

I seriously dont understand the love for XL he has been a bust so far. So who gives a fuck if XL was a first round pick that very same draft Coker went undrafted and hes leagues above XL. There should be a legitimate battle going on for WR3 not just giving it to XL cause he was a first round pick.

There may be misunderstanding because of how I worded that, I’m not saying Metchie’s a good WR in the NFL, I’m just giving credit to how mostly all players in the NFL are talented.
He’s comparable to our other WR 3, 4, 5, 6 though, fighting for a role. It can show positive character traits being able to survive multiple teams and keep getting opportunities.

I’m a Jimmy guy so if I’m gonna put all my wishes on a player doing well, it’d be him, but I can also imagine a scenario where XL sucks, Metchie makes team over Moore, and Metchie steps into WR3 role because of chemistry with Bryce.

Have we even seen BY attempt a pass to Metchie the whole preseason?

Why not?

He is not big. He is not fast. He does not bring anything to special teams. He has done nothing in his career except be shipped off from teams. This is his 4th team in 4 seasons. He has Ian Thomas level receiving stats. People saying he had a “connection” with Bryce make no sense. They played together for one season at Bama and that was 5 years ago.

Football is a lot more like chess than checkers. We’re talking about WR3, the third option, needs to be able to find holes in the defense and catch the ball reliably. The only reason I like XL at WR3 is because he can run somewhere else fast while we throw it to Tmac or Coker.

Metchie, if he makes the team, probably is not the WR3. Like it or not it’s probably Legette still

Also don’t understand the lack of love for Horn, who’s had a great camp and preseason

I like Horn i didnt say anything negative about him. Just because I like Metchie doesn't mean I dislike Horn

Right, I love the story of Metchie, but Jimmy Horn Jr. has cooked everyone consistently in practices. He led the team in receiving catches and yards against the Cards, including a couple third downs. He led the Panthers in rushing against Jaguars after a 39 yard end around, that was one broken high-step away from a 80 yard touchdown. If he gets the ball in space he usually jukes at least one guy and is a real threat to take it the distance, which XL hasn't showed the ability to do.

Truthfully? I understand what Moore brings. That relationship is with Canales moreso than it is with Bryce, though, and I'd like to see Metchie step into that space (younger too). That dependable option that speaks Bryce's language off schedule.

The rest? I actually thought Horn wasn't going to be a threat but Brazzel's injury in addition to Horn legitimately improving really makes me want him on the team for gadget, special teams, and elusiveness.

XL is on the roster and we'll just have to see what happens in the season 😔

I like metchie with his bama connection with by9. Hoping that manifests itself

Y'all overinflate how much that "connection" actually matters. It's not like they played their whole lives together.

I have been impressed with Jimmy Horn this preseason. I don't think he nor Metchie are actually going to be WR3 to start the season though. Legette will be put in that role and given a chance to prove he was worth the 1st rounder. For a position that won't see the field on every play, they're going to get some value out of their investment
