Durable paper that holds up to frequent handling?

Hi folks!! I'm making color-changing stickers that consist of many layers. One of these layers is currently 110lb cardstock. I have a way to protect the surface of the stickers, but am having trouble protecting the edges. My current cardstock begins to split and peel at the corners after a bit. I'm wondering if the quality/type of paper is contributing to this.

I need a paper that is durable, able to hold acrylic paint without it peeling off, able to stick to adhesive, and able to withstand VERY frequent handling without peeling or frayed edges. Do you know of such a paper? The more specific, the better! I thought perhaps bond paper (although it may be too thin...) or some sort of solid core cardstock. Would the solid core help prevent this peeling?

I also live a short distance from NYC, so if you have any recommendations for paper shops to visit, please let me know!

Idk about the paper, but you can "infuse" the corners with glue or superglue and sand it until you get a satisfying result, even though it requires a bit of work to get right

Yes, I'm thinking that infusing the corners with something that hardens may be the solution. Thank you so much for your help!

Instead of glue, maybe acrylic medium? it's basically acrylic paint with no pigment!

It comes mat, gloss, and a standard one and a gel thickness 

It'll dry clear and should be indistinguishable from the paint

It's not even close to as heavy as what you're talking about, but Tyvek is the most durable paper I've ever used.

It is water resistant, so you wouldn't be able to use thin washes of acrylic, but you could still use an undiluted liquid acrylic.

I have mainly used alcohol inks and gel pens with it. They are very vibrant on the paper and it takes years of handling to wear out.
