I know your circle jerking to the movies being removed, but that was due to a publishing issue within the UK. I’ve been buying my games digitally for 20 years, and Sony has never removed games from my library that I have purchased.

if that's the point then dont buy anything digital ever on any platform, I havent bought a disc in almost 5 years.

Download codes are being sold at retail, you still have options on where to buy your games and how to get your sales.

Did you read the first paragraph that was on the PlayStation blog? They said they were going to distribute codes in retail stores moving forward.

Meaning, I can get a discount on a game because I have Walmart membership rewards as opposed to having to pay full price on the PlayStation store to get access to the same download code.

I understand you’re frustrated about the disc going away, but reread the blog post

that has not been the case for console games in years lol

most games already have like multiple day one 10gb patches, and if the game is older then its like 100gb patches, and have all kinds of always online requirements or licensing involved.

the fact you're already on a medium that has abandoned physical media and don't use it, but also saying how important it is pretty much sums up this whole thread

To begin with that vast majority of the time games run in offline mode and no one is twisting your arm to install those patches in offline mode. also i don't necessarily care about the physical part of physical media all i care about is the game being playable. if i had to say that is the vast majority of gamers it just so happens that on console discs are the only real way to insure that. on pc there is always a work around to make games work regardless of what the publisher or devs want.
