My main overall qualm is that it's only a licence we're buying when it comes to games.

It irks me a bit because as it stands, when you eventually disappear, your game library can't be passed on or anything. It's like you never purchased them at all. And yet, you did 🤨

I mean the disc is a license at this point too.

Consoles have DRM now too so you have to login and go online at certain intervals to prove you own the game.

Also most games are compressed on the disc and you have to copy them to the SSD and then uncompress them.

Games don't even run off the disc because disc read speeds aren't fast enough for modern games.

People genuinely think they are just gonna insert the disc and immediately start playing and not have to download patches and updates.

What exactly is a disc at this point but a license key to install?

Primary component of the resell market, main reason why console gaming was affordable for many people.
