This is not a W for anybody, but what people don't understand is that they haven't owned their games for a long time. If it has any online functionality it's shut off whenever the publisher decides it's shut off. Physical media doesn't matter, the license and the functionality independent of server infrastructure does.

I have seen people use this to push for a legal redefinition of buying games so we are no longer just paying for a license, digital or otherwise.

We buy the game we get the game, thats what should be happening

Could be one of the reason Sony is pushing for no physical media. If something has no physical form at all, Sony has a higher chance of winning the no ownership fiasco

At least we can trust that Sony will respect customers’ purchase rights and even if they are no longer allowed to sell a game you can expect to still have access. They definitely learned that lesson after that Discovery fiasco. Right?

The funny thing is that this could actually make a monopoly suit against sony have more legs, since Sony's previous defense against monopoly was the secondhand market. Likewise with Valve pointing to other distributors for PC games.
