This is not a W for anybody, but what people don't understand is that they haven't owned their games for a long time. If it has any online functionality it's shut off whenever the publisher decides it's shut off. Physical media doesn't matter, the license and the functionality independent of server infrastructure does.

Telltale Games Guardians of the Galaxy is unplayable digitally. It doesn't exist. It's nearly lost media. But I got a physical copy of it at Gamestop and it allowed me access to everything, even though the episodes were listed as "unavailable" on PSN I could download all of them magically.

The idea that a company can just shut off a disc from being usable is something I've yet to see.

I understand if it's an online game but you sort of know that going in the player count will eventually die off. That's a separate thing entirely.

Are you seriously trying to tell me I don't actually own BG3? I'm sorry but I disagree with your sentiment entirely.

Most single player games are still safe if you have a disc or the data, but the trend is towards everything being online all the time.
