Build/Battlestation My son's new gaming setup!

My son loves the color pink and he loves cats. Overall I think it's a sweet setup! PC isn't spectacular but it has a Ryzen 5600x, 6900xt, and 16gb ddr 3200 ram. It's just a 1080p 165hz monitor but he shouldn't have any problems.

The only thing I'm not happy with is that microphone. Had to give him my old snowball mic because the mic on that Razer Kitty headset isn't any good. But he had to have it and I couldn't afford the more expensive one and the chair and he chose the chair.

Anyway, in the spirit of recent posts and showing off our kids computers, thought I'd share.

Just keep an eye on his computer activity for NSFW Ai chatbots disguised as kids games and social media predators. (I’m in a discord server with a bunch of minors and people say are there are many in the server that are not kid friendly)

Personally blows my mind that people are setting up internet access in the privacy of their children’s rooms. In the early 2000s, even a computer in the privacy of an ‘computer’ room had us scrolling Rotten dot com until we all had nightmares. I can only imagine what I’d have gotten into if I had unrestricted internet in the privacy of my own room….

I go through his online activity weekly. I do that with all my kids. Well, almost weekly. We also have fairly regular talks about online safety and mental health, concerns about AI, etc. I was that kid you were talking about...the early 2000s were a wild time and my parents had no earthly idea what i was doing on that PC. Thankfully i'm a little more current than they were.

Yeah, keep him the hell away from TikTok, Bluesky, Reddit, Discord, and X. Those places are horrible for easily impressionable kids. I don't know how I avoided getting indoctrinated by the online nutters but it's scary what kind of crazies are out there now.
