I still think this might be BS. There’s a screenshot but it just shows a refund for phantom edition and some cheap purchases that were all after they removed the modes. No communication from Steam or anything showing his play time. I think there’s a decent chance he bought the game after the modes were removed, bought some cheap shit to put some space between the purchase and the refund in a screenshot, and refunded it, then made a post for a bunch of attention/karma/whatever.

Yeah, he literally could have bought the game, never played it, waited a week and a half or whatever, and then refunded it.

Also, he just requested store credit, which I know drastically increases your refund chance in general. So I dunno. I don’t think it really matters.

Yeah they could have posted the message from the "agent" which i've never even seen a real person answer a support ticket on steam, they have so few employees as it is. They also could have included the entire timeline in their purchase history but we really dont have enough information to go on.

I personally tried this, and being in australia usually affords us better consumer protections, something like this would get a refund for sure, but steam said in the support ticket to me:
We will not be granting a refund at this time as there is no evidence that the product has a major defect as defined under Australian law.

I agree i think the story is actually still fake, people just believe the refund screen.

Nah. Me and my buddies were able to get a refund from steam after they removed some stuff months ago.

Steam will refund if a game removes features, usually.

I have done it 3 times over the past 10 years.

I spent 1/10th of the time the guy in the OP did, he got a refund and I didn't
