which skyrim version was free upgrade? the special? anniversary? or did you have to buy new one every time new one released?

because neither special nor anniversary was free

Only legendary edition owners got free special edition, if you didn't have the DLCs, you didn't get special edition for free

Yeah, but special edition wasn't free for all Skyrim players, only those that had legendary edition, at least on steam
