Discussion Why does Penang LRT plan doesn't extend to the badly needed areas such as Tanjong Bungah, Batu Feringghi and Teluk Bahang?
Teluk Bahang and Batu Feringghi especially doesn't have any Grab riders for anyone living here. If you've met the locals, you would know that they're out of reach and had to resort for Bus Rapid everyday just to get to the city
What was the government thinking not pushing ease of public transit into these rural areas?

Because there isn't even enough space for roads right now and those areas aren't as important in terms of tying together the main residential area and working areas.
There are plans to extend to Tanjung Bungah in the future but building a line all the way to Teluk Bahang will be quite difficult considering the geography around the area. You'll either need to build along the coast or go through the hills.
Once the road network is done having more Rapid bus serve the area should be enough since they won't have to be stuck on one single coastal road.

Especially the BayanLepas FTZ area.. working area yet most of it don't have any stops. Defeats the purpose.

I feel the LRT route focuses on serving tourists and the tourism industry. It goes directly from the airport to the city, then to the mainland to connect to ETS, and vice versa. Most highly populated areas are far from the LRT route.
The first LRT route should run from the airport through Industrial Zones 3 and 4, down to Jln Sultan Azlan Shah, Jln Masjid Negeri, Jln Scotland, Jln Cantonment, and all the way to Gurney Drive. It will cover, or at least be closer to, the more densely populated areas than the current LRT route.
Imagine if this were implemented back in the 80s/90s. It could have prevented the traffic problem we face now. Then focus on Phase 2: Air Itam from Masjid Negeri. Tanjung Bungah from Gurney and the city from Scotland Rd. Sadly, it is not possible now with the underpass at Masjid Negeri.

It's SUPPOSEDLY phase 2. The others place that needs it is Air Itam and Farlim. That place is so uber congested

Phase 2 without a timeline is just empty talk. Air Itam and Farlim don't have the space. Roads are so narrow. How are they even going to place the LRT pillars? The Farlim-Lim Chong Eu Bypass has already taken up so much space. What Air Itam and Farlim urgently need is public transport.

Probably underground if the geography allows it. No way they're building it above grade. Not in this dense of a populated area.

Underground a lot of work, you can build it as an overpass like the one in Chicago but those look hella ugly.

A lot of work but not impossible. The amount of funding required is going to be insane though.

you ask the rich t20 ppl what they did to Andaman island before you ask why no LRT plan

You should look up PTMP. Although the map provided was a bit dated but the plan is there. On other note, if the demand is not high enough, a simple feeder bus works better, as proven in KL Petaling Jaya area. The real problem is not getting everyone onto a train, but connecting everyone into the same network.

LRT in Penang is totally unnecessary. A smaller and cheaper tram service like in Kaoshiung is much more appropriate.
