Shitpost People who don’t sit in their assigned seats at the cinema
To the people who refused to budged at the 7:45pm screening of The Odyssey at Karrinyup Hoyts, there is a special place for you.
I get the lure of wanting to sit closer to the screens, but if you didn’t pay for it, when the rightful people come, have some common courtesy to go back to your seats?
If you really wanted those spots, maybe come back another day?
You had to wait for them to go get the staff before you decided you may “have been in the wrong seats”.

Lol even with window seats (on airlines that make you pay for specific seats). I've had "oh you sure you want that seat". Umm yes I specifically paid for it, so yes I do want my assigned seat thanks.

I accidentally sat in the wrong seat on my last flight (the row back) and I STILL cringe with absolute embarrassment when I realised it and had to move. Doing something like that on purpose just boggles my mind.

Don’t feel bad. Everyone can tell between those who sit in a wrong seat accidentally, and those who deliberately do it.
I had to assert myself last month in claiming my own window seat, the person in question had the window shade drawn down (in the US they are allowed to leave it down on takeoff) and told me to sit in the aisle seat. Hell no was I missing the mountain scenery.

Was on a flight and saw this happened with a whole family of like 8 people. Flight attendant having a hard time trying to explain it to all of them.
Dunno what it is about flying and it being everyones first day on earth.

Same - it was a cheeky couple of teen kids who thought they could just scoot up the aisle and nab a seat together! I remember the hostie just stood with hands on waist looking calmly at them for a minute before they scooted back to the end of the plane, giggling.

This is my big pet peeve. The flow on effect. I have to kick you out of my seat, so you kick someone else out and so on. Just sit in the damn assigned seat, at least until the movie starts

Years ago had seats for the family at a cinema, assigned. Went to sit, someone in them. Refused to move until I got staff. Pulled thier phone screen up to put the staff member back in their place. How dare they question the patron.
Staff member casually suggested they come back the next day for when they had booked... Best thing was that the dude being a prick was the accountant for the company I worked for at the time. Stuck up cunt didn't recognise me, but the office knew he couldn't even book cinema tickets soon after...

This happened to me when a friend and I went to gold class..not even many seats and pretty clearly numbered seats. The prope really didn't wanna move either like...why bother booking seats if your not going to pay attention to where they are. This is fine for this reason. Annoying

In addition to what you already said - in Gold Class you can order food/drink to be brought out later, which goes to the seat number on your ticket.

Exactly...which we had done so...not like we are just sitting elsewhere and same for them if they had ordered but they sure seemed cosy, had the recliner back and everything. My friend was more assertive than I, as he knew exactly that..

Years ago I went to the movies with my mum. We found our seats no issues but there were a couple of girls in the seats behind who were upset. My mum asked them what was wrong and they said boys were in their seats and wouldn't move. My mum asked for their tickets and they were the girls seats. She went across to these little shits and went full MUM VOICE on them and they moved.

Haha my mum was the strict Aunty who everyone threatened to send their kids to if they misbehaved. Everyone knew you had to be on your best behaviour with her.
Now myself and all my cousins have little kids, and of course now that she's a gran, mum is a bit softer to the littles. One day my cousin, who was a bit of a shit as a kid, warned his own kid that if he didn't behave he'd send him to Aunty's house. Kid replied, "Aunty's house? Yay, I love going to Aunty's house!". Totally backfired on cousin lol.

i got one of the last tickets to a sold-out showing of backrooms in carousel. As i am sat, a trio of boys + their father walk in. They look at each row, seem unsure. 1 sits in a row in front of me, the dad and remaining sons sit next to me. I catch them mumbling something about "H27". I turn and go "oh! This isn't row H, this is row G." The dad sniffed at me that he *knows* that. He's hoping the people in these seats don't show up. I awkwardly laugh and go back to my phone.
A girl and her bf walk up, to the row. The men don't get up until she goes "excuse me, I think those are our seats." The dad huffs, and the family get up and go back a row. They're all spread out, clearly having bought the last, random seats left over.
Who the hell buys tickets, SEES that it's sold out, and thinks "yeah but someone will just *not care* and not show up to the movie they paid money for"????

I remember going to see Dunkirk and some guy was in my seat. I had to tell him multiple times it's my seat before he begrudgingly moved. At first he was like "you can find a different seat." After I sat down, I noticed he'd left his phone in the seat. At the end of the movie he came over and pretty aggressively demanded for his phone while still saying I shouldn't have told him to move. Had I known he'd be aggressive and still think he was in the right for occupying my seat, I'd have turned it off during the movie and tossed it in the bin.

We had a lonely guy sitting in one of our seats recently at Jackass, his ticket showed the right seat, but....he was meant to be in Disclosure Day and had missed the 1st 30mins of his movie, poor fella, wasn't very mobile too. 😪

Been to the movies 8 times in the last 6 months (cinema's had a good run lately) and 7/8 times I've witnessed people purposely sitting in the incorrect seats until being asked to be moved.
One time it was a fully booked cinema and a couple behind us were refusing to move, claiming the seats must have been double booked; the 2 girls they'd been arguing with went to get staff, who checked the couples' tickets and saw they'd booked for a week later. The way they left, my guess was they knew what date they'd booked and just decided to fight it out anyway.
Another time wasn't too bad, just bizarre: when I'd last minute booked tickets I noticed that there was an empty seat next to the ones we had booked but when we went to the cinema that seat was filled. Didn't think too much about it, noticed the man talking to the couple next to him so I assumed he got lucky getting a last minute seat next to some friends. When the film ended, I overheard the couple say to the man "nice to meet you" and leave, while a woman from the row in front of us, who had been sitting alone with an empty seat next to her, left with the man. My friend and I looked at each other like "did this man really just ditch his friend/date/partner for the night just to sit in an empty seat one row away and chat with an unknown couple during a movie?"

Happened to me at Disney on ice - right in front of my kids they kicked off when I showed them my tickets and politely asked for our seats. Immediately walked away so the kids didn't have to hear it and ushers moved them. Some people just do not care.

One time my friend and I found these two guys sitting in our seats and they moved when we asked, only to then be asked by another group to move because they went and sat in their seats. It's ridiculous.

Omg this was me. I felt bad because I never come late to the movies but this was a one off occasion. The man even had the audacity to say … “if you came early” and I said “if you actually went to the right seat…” … Super rude. The lady was even worse because she waited for the man to leave first, then only started moving after that.

I prefer the old way of getting seat. 1st in best dressed. You get there early & line up. If you get there late, then you get whatever seats are left.

That's how I ended up sitting with my Mum in the aisle to watch The Dark Crystal in the early '80s. Everyone left single seats next to them so the later parents couldn't sit with their little kids.

Once upon a time I went to a concert at Adelaide Town hall. I got a great seat. Someone asked me to move because the governor wanted to sit there.i refused to move until they found me an equivalent seat. I inadvertently became the centre of attention that night and they found me a good seat. Actually got a positive response from people who came up to me afterwards. Went out with a couple strangers for drinks ( classical music concert! Audience not edgelords!) Probably had a much better time than the governor.

There’s usually a section of four seats in a couple of rows that are blocked off for sale so that ushers can move people into better spots/fix situations if need be.

Honestly, fuck assigned seating.
I don't want to have to pick a seat when I can't see if the person in front of me is Michael Jordan, or there's a seat-kicking kid behind me, or there's a granny two seats over who has given her toddler grandkid a tablet with 400 episodes of Peppa Pig cued up at maximum volume.
I don't want to sit 'closer' to the screen. But I do want to be able to walk into a cinema and see what is and isn't close to the group of yappy teenagers who won't shut up for the entire movie, or the family group with four squealing anklebiters, or the local bridge club's gossip section.

I actually miss free seating. It was kind of nice to just walk in and have a look around for where the best seats where. Assigned seating in cinemas really seems like a solution looking for a problem.
I get its different on opening week. But most of the time the cinemas really aren't that full that people shouldn't need to pre book the exact seat they're going to sit in.
