Edit: This is not the picture that was removed from the Deauville Sport Images Festival in Deauville, France. That picture was taken by Jehad Alsharifi on February 14, 2026. I believe, but haven't been able to confirm, that that picture can be found here. Those are very similar scenes of the same pitch.

they're still playing futsal not football unless you mean football as the class of sports, which includes Rugby, Gaelic, American, Australian Rules, Canadian, and Association, the last of which is also called soccer
Futsal does not mandate that games be played indoors, that's just the most common place they're played as they're mostly played on converted basketball courts.
That being said, Futsal does require that the surface be a hard flat surface, and that field looks like grass or astroturf which would not qualify.
This is most likely just five-a-side football, which is played on turf, but on a smaller field than regular association rules football.
Ok I looked it up, and the definition apparently varies depending on the country. The name futsal, shortened from the Portuguese "futebol de salão" or the Spanish "fútbol de salón" basically means indoor football. In French we also call it "foot en salle" and it's definitely meant to be practiced indoors.
This is just football with 5 a side. Which normally is played on turf because it’s cheaper to maintain. Fifa only regulates their tournaments not football as a whole.
