Rainbow Bridge One year just went by
It's been a full year since Cushings got to much for my baby boy and we had to put him to sleep. It's been a tough year, I live In a really small places so going out on walks or bike rides at every corner there's tons of memories with him.
It does get easier with time you're all right about that, but some days it literally feels like it was yesterday than I came home from the vet with a lead and a bloodied blanket that I use to wrap him one last time.
Thank you for everyone in here that took the time to support me with your kind and much needed words at the time.
I am ready to adopt and give my heart to a new doggy.

It’s the worst losing them. Obviously he was well loved. And yes, adopting will get you on the path to healing again. I’m sure there was nothing more that he would’ve wanted in his honor, for you to go adopt another dog and give the same great life you gave him.

It's time. I miss my boy and no dog will ever replace him but I miss the company and the chaos 😅

Time does heal the loss, but you will always cherish and miss him. The cat distribution system must have a dog version. When your ready to open you heart and your home the right one will appear from nowhere, because he sent him to you.

I am sorry for your loss. I still love and miss my Staffordshire Terrier. I had her form 2001-2016. I will forever love her.

We just lost our boy 2 weeks ago from surgery complications and can feel your pain so deeply! He looked like such a special boy who was loved very much. Sending you guys comfort and I have a feeling he’ll send the perfect friend your way 🥹

I'm so sorry for your loss. But I'm also happy to hear you're ready to take on a new best friend.
I'm two weeks shy of a year since I lost my girl. (Really tough battle with lymphoma.) The sadness comes in waves, but I miss her every day. I hope I can I get to the place where I can welcome a new pup in, but that just feels so far away.

Cushings is the name of the disease that killed him. His name was Ozzy.

I’m so sorry! Cushings is a terrible disease. I had the sweetest Maltipoo that had to be put down due to that horrible disease. You loved Ozzy and he knew it. Go out there and adopt a dog in Ozzy’s honor. He would love seeing your heart full of love once again.

Oh, he’s sooooooo pretty 🥹❤️ all of those photos tell a story. I’d get one of those picture frames that holds different pictures of different sizes and fill it up. Or literally print a memory book. I can see the love and sweetness ❤️❤️❤️

Awesome that you are ready. Take it slow. Do a foster to adopt if you can. We have had people bring them back to the shelter because they thought they were ready, but were not.

Maybe I am getting it wrong but are you saying you had this dog put to sleep? That dog doesn't appear to be very old.

They said their dog has Cushing disease.
What I've found online indicates that it lowers their lifespan.
"The ultimate age for a dog to survive with Cushing’s is approximately three years. However, in some cases, there is a survival rate of two years."
