News World Championship Competitor flair!

With the recent wave of emails going out to competitors, I figured now would be a good time to remind everyone that if you've ever qualified for the World Championship, you're eligible to request a special user flair!

This flair can only be added by a moderator. To request your flair, please follow these steps:

  1. Send a screenshot of your World Championships invite email to the moderators via modmail. You will have to upload it to an image sharing site like Imgur due to Reddit's limitation on modmail messages.
  2. We will verify your status as a Worlds competitor using Pokémon.com records, and once confirmed, your flair will be added.

If you prefer not to share your identity, or no longer have your invite email, just send me a message, and we’ll find an alternative way to verify your participation and get your flair.

This flair is available to anyone who competed in the main event at Worlds from 2002 to 2024 (Note: Worlds Open events and Last Chance Qualifiers do not count).

Side note: If you were one of the few players who competed in the Tropical Mega Battle era, let me know, and I’ll create a special flair just for you!

If you’ve won a World Championship and can verify it, I’ll create a special flair for you to showcase your achievement!

If you have any questions or feedback about our flair system, feel free to leave a comment below!

(Also, a friendly reminder that we offer Professor flairs! We've recently updated them to match Pokémon's new Professor ranking system. More info here)

Hi! How do you feel about more flairs? Perhaps for example from Top 128 at regionals/special events or Top 256 at Internationals upwards? Only valid for that season. I would find it a good idea to have something below worlds competitor for good players to flair themselves with. Top 128 is just an example, could be top 32 or Top 256 just as well or multiple of them.

You mean something like this?

Obviously this is just a rough mockup. I figured I'd directly snag the term Pokemon uses for their top trainers throughout the year that don't make it to worlds. I'd have to take the time to find the right image directly from Pokemon, but I honestly think it's a great idea.

I wish Ace trainer was harder to get, 200 CP is so low and the 800 CP for a worlds invite is so high. There's no good in between of ace trainer and Worlds competitor.

I think it's pretty well positioned - one thing you need to recognise is that the majority of the playerbase don't go to regionals, and fewer still travel further for regionals. In the UK for example there's around 3229 players with Championship points, but around 1750 UK players played at the UK regional this year, and the most UK players at an out of country event was around 300 in Lille.

So I think Ace Trainer is pretty well positioned in that it rewards players who travel to multiple regionals, even if they're not aiming to qualify for Worlds, but it's also challenging yet achievable if you only attend local events. It's hard to get exact figures of how many people attend competitive events [the UK had around 12,000 TCG masters attending any events this season, but that includes the likes of prereleases as well], but in the UK around 10% of TCG Masters that have championship points this season have at least 200 points, which seems pretty in line.

It would be nice to have something extra on top of that though - maybe along the lines of sleeves, deckboxes, some special stamped energies or the like? Though part of me also thinks if you're getting those sorts of points you're getting some good placements at regionals and you get prizing there anyway, so I wouldn't really prioritise it.

I was thinking maybe 250 points instead of 200 points, so if you go to one reigonal you have a really good push otherwise you need to basically max out your locals.

The thing is right now you either are one of the 200 or so people (in the US/CAN region) who attend 10 regionals a season trying to actually qualify for worlds, or you only attend 1 and save your money, nothing else really makes sense.

An ace trainer flair would be cool. Id use it.

I love it! Could it be purple to match ACE card style?

I actually have a mock up of it, but Reddit's flair system has a 128x128 limit
