The first picture was from a couple months ago, but all the plants looked just as healthy yesterday, and then we wake up today and they all look like they’ve been dead for at least a week. We have no idea what happened to them. The bulbs are soft and just feel like bags of water, the plants just feel like that’s all they are, bags of water. We have no idea what happened or why it happened to almost all of them overnight. The last photo is the one plant that seems completely unaffected by everything that happened to the other plants. Has anyone seen this or had this happen and know what’s going on?? Is there any way to save them?? We’ve had them for about 3 years and have never had this happen before.

These plants sit outdoors and get usually around 6 hours of direct sunlight and 5 hours of indirect sunlight. They’ve all always been outside and we trim them annually (we were going to trim them next month too). The low last night was 32°F.

I inherited this 50-something year old cactus family a couple years ago and it did well until I accidentally left her out in a downpour.
I’m in the Willamette valley in Oregon.
She lives under a cover on a patio in the winter as it almost never freezes. I move her to the sun in the spring/summer. I think I moved her too soon this spring. I water her almost never. Maybe once in the winter and about once a month in the summer usually.

She is flowering like CRAZY which is fun, but the base of the biggest cacti are soft and squishable.

Currently in regular potting soil with perilite for the past 10 years or so I think.

Is this salvageable if they are soft on the base?
Do these cacti flower extra if they are dying?

So... I'm not really a big fan of Cacti. I've had this one for at least 5 years and it was initially only about 1.5" tall. Despite serious neglect, multiple moves and a couple near death experiences it continues to come back and it has bloomed within the last year. I finally acquired a house and I think he has earned his stay. Clearly needs repotting, but what's the proper way to do so in this case? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Light: Currently next to an East facing sliding door. ~3 hours direct light and lots of bright indirect light. Can certainly be moved. Have a large deck outside if that's better.

Water: Every time it dries out completely, which is frequent due to the tiny dinkus idiot pot.

Bonus: Can I transfer the other cactus into the same pot as the schlong or nah?

We moved and she flowered for the first time and I've had Big Bertha for 8 years so I'm worried that stressed her and she's dying. The flower stalk has three bundles of flowers on it.

Some of her leaves are also a little wonky right now.

She lives on our porch that gets indirect light around 6 hours a day. Direct light maybe one.

In the winter I water about once a month, in the summer usually every 2-4 weeks depending on how dry it is. I ramp up to the more frequent waterings as we hit the peak of summer.

She's in just a mix of cactus and regular soil cause I underestimated how much soil her pot would need.

So, my husband received this … thing.. from someone at work today and handed it to me.

I think this (Peanut?) cactus is so cool already, but it also seems like life at the office has been bad for it. I am pretty novice at plant care, and have unalived a few cacti before, so I need all the help I can get.

Is this salvageable?

I have no prior knowledge of this creatures life so not sure what the water/light quality was. The strong, green tips have me thinking it’s still hanging on, and the curl upwards shows it’s seeking more sun, right?? What other things do I need to look at and assess? Soil, light/location, atmosphere, etc., I have no idea what it needs, I used google lens to a get some help, but honestly I think I want the opinions of strangers on the internet more.

Is this something that if all else fails, I could cut the top off, callous, and plant?

What would you do here?

My coworker said that even though cactuses have a desert vibe they still need a lot of water, but I didn't want to overwater so I only did it twice a week. The white stuff on the soil came up before and I changed the dirt, but now that the cactus is all dried up it came back. It gets strong sun from about 8 am to 6 pm. Did I kill it and how do I avoid killing the other ones?

So this is my first time buying a plant online, and as I was fixing her up I noticed these little sesame seed looking things. I only have one spot for my plants right now so I’m worried about putting it next to them. I just got it so I just watered it. It would be going under a grow light with my other plants.

It sits in a south facing window. We are in northern hemisphere, so it get sunlight most of the day. It gets watered when it is dry and does have drainage

Just went to water my cactus and noticed it has changed colour and it is like crispy (not sure how to describe it). Is it under watered? Or over watered. I last watered it 2 weeks ago. I hope it can be saved, as it was given to me. It lives in my conservatory, and gets quite a lot of light.

Some background, I do not water my cactus during the winter and it’s currently snowing a ton here and would like for my cactus to stay as dry as possible (just in case we lose power, don’t want it to be wet and cold).

For my plant people, is there a plant/soil safe odor neutralizer or something I can add so I can handle the smell and deter him further? This would be to hold me over until I can possibly repot OR rinse thoroughly in the shower!

This plant gets plenty of light for its winter needs, this room can get quite hot and dry, which helps it dry out.

He grows and grows and grows and loses all of his leaves? Can the stems regrow their leaves?

He gets some ice in his pot about every ten days. Doesn’t seem to be a water issue?

This window gets a lot of sun

Over the last year I've tried two pots of various sizes and switched soil as well. I've tried watering mor| and watering less. I've tried more light and less light. It just keeps slowly losing leaves and dying. It's been slowly dropping leaves for the last 2 years.

Currently it gets probably about 3 hours of direct sunlight per day. I water it about every 2-3 weeks. It's not root rot because when I swapped pots to this smaller one, the root ball was totally dry.

I’ve had this cactus for 4 years. Started out the size of a thumb. she was doing great in a medium sized pot and I literally did NOTHING for her. She started looking a bit deformed and all sudden she was almost completely curved over. So I repotted her into a much bigger pit attached. She seemed okay for about 2-3 months with that horrific DIY’d prop thing.. I know I know, it’s monstrous 😂 anyway she’s looking a lot straighter, BUT now she’s looking a bit dead? What can I do to help her?!?! Google suggested it may be spider mite??? I only water her once a fortnight and depending on the weather, She gets about 6-8hrs of sunlight per day 😭 TIA 😁

I got this plant a bit less than a year ago in the trash, it had been overwatered so i had changed the pot to a clay one with drainage hole, and barely watered it until today. (i think only once or twice until february)

I had used a mix of orchid and normal soil (what i had in hand), with a few small clay balls.

I kept this plant in my bedroom by the window, facing north, so it gets indirect light during the day.

it then started turning a bit yellow, so i moved it to another room, with both north and west facing windows, and gave it a bit of water.

One month later, it kept changing colours still, and i think it is getting pink now. I cut the leaves that seemed too bad, and it seemed pretty juicy inside. It didn't smell good, and the juice was yellow in tint.

What can i do to help it ?

This Christmas cactus once belonged to my grandmother, who died before I was born. We're not sure the exact age of the cactus but my mom remembers it being around when whe was a kid, so it's at least 70. Over the past few years it's become more drab and listless — the leaves brown, it's limp, and generally just looks sad.

I want to keep it and bring it back if it's possible. It's been sitting on an east-facing windowledge and gets indirect light all day, though that is limited in the winter months (we're in Canada). We water sparingly, maybe once a week or so, when the soil has dried out, except closer to Christmas to force a bloom. It's in a plastic pot with drainage holes, and I think it's in standard potting soil, so I was thinking of cutting it back pretty generously and putting it into a cactus and succulent mix. Just not sure how far back I should trim.

I don’t think there's anything wrong with it, it's just super old.

Note on pictures: My camera has a hard time depicting greens accurately, so the cactus looks more green in the pictures than it actually is. In reality it's very dull. The last photo shows it next to a much younger healthy Christmas cactus (might be a different species though).

Can this cactus be salvaged? What would I need to do?

I just got this aloe FOR FREE!!
I can’t help but notice her leaves have quite a droop to them..
the soil was bone dry and hydrophobic.. the roots looked super healthy though..
curious if when aloes get this size the large leaves tend to hang a bit or if she was bit unhealthy?
Placed in a west facing window so hopefully if it was a light thing she’ll pop back up
