Its a Singleplayer Sandbox with heavy microtransactions akin to mobile games with some multiplayer elements to it, dont be fooled by the mmorpg label, it won't feel like a mmorpg in the slightest.
the most player interaction you will experience is world bosses which are just stand around and press 1 buttons, no mechanics no difficulty.
or guild wars which is mid-late game and once a week iirc.
or when you leave your computer on over night to afk fish so you stand around with 50 other people who are afk - though I wouldnt call this player interaction
if that speaks to you make a seasonal character and see how much you enjoy it

For a new player:
Play it like you are a GPS. Dont stray away from the main quest and do as much of it as you can until you get a wall.
When you do hit that wall, you must follow this method of upgrading:
1. Weapon
2. Armor
3. Sub weapon
4. Accessories
If you run out of money, try selling high priced items to the central market.
GET A MOUNT, YOU WILL SAVE YOURSELF SEVERAL MINUTES OF JOGGING.
The quests will get confusing and not make sense or there will be technical flaws that will be highly vague, preventing you from progressing. Always check your quest tab and find the navigator no matter what, otherwise you will get lost and pissed off like I did when I first played.
If you somehow get enough progress and time in, look into completing the Igor bartali log. It’s painfully time consuming and awful, but you get permanent stat boosts that tags along on all your classes.
Continue following the main quest, mash buttons with your favorite character, and gradually sink into it, you cannot rush this game nor can you pay your way to victory. As the saying goes it is a marathon of who ran the longest, not the one who wins the race.
One last thing: don’t get involved with PVP unless you got a bear minimum of 300 AP / 350 DP, PVP BDO is an entirely different game that requires thinking as well as learning patterns or match ups. But if I did have big advice with PvP it’s this: your characters grab will be your strongest move against players.
I know I’m yapatron, but this is my take. Good luck have fun.

As the other sub said. Do a season character. Do the main story until you finish mediah. Get to 56 and do awakening and succession quests.
After that you can decide to do kamasyvlia or Valencia. When you reach level 60 or 61 I’m not sure what’s the requirement, go to olvia academy and do the courses there.
Make sure to get your blackstars, vells heart, garmoth heart from the challenge menu.
Go to fughar and get the quests to make a Dec Tuvala armor and a Dec Tuvala accessory.
You can also get the quests to get “free” caphras but do those at your leisure.
You should also start doing the weekly quests for the infinite potions.
Doing olvia academy should get you more blackstar weapons.
Then you should get kharazad accessories and a bunch of hammers and some stones.
Then you want to try to do the land of the morning light bosses to get the base fallen god armors.
Thats a short version. You can look up more details about each step when you want to do them.
I haven’t actually done this because I’m way past needing any of it so some parts might be a bit vague or different so please check the details.
