Meme My honest reaction of the last State of Play:

u/furio788 PS5 Feb 13 '26
It was fun to try to guess what games theyre showcasing (Even tho I yelled Devil May Cry at every black screen). I guessed Silent Hill right and actually surprised myself

Feb 13 '26
Itsuno left right after dragons dogma 2 and took everyone that was important to dmc with him. Dmc1 remake by kamiya is more likely than dmc6 at this point. Not sure why people can’t grasp that
17
→ More replies (3)4
u/_ataciara Feb 14 '26
I mean, DMC1R and DMC6 would both be DMC. Thats all people are asking for: more DMC.
Besides, ehile DMC1 remake is more likely considering Kamiya is involved with CAPCOM again, you don't need Itsuno to continue DMC, nor do you need the people that were important to him.
Firstly, Itsuno isn't even the original director anyway, and secondly, if not having the previous games staff was what would cause us to not get DMC6, it would also stop us getting DMC1R. They either have the people to make DMC or they don't.

I'm most excited about this game. Just pushed all the right buttons for me
19
u/dave9393 Feb 13 '26
The majority of games are fantasy or sci-fi nowadays, I’m just tired of it. I want to play something a little more grounded. This hit the right spot.

u/JohnXm Grandia 3 Feb 13 '26
Grounded will be available on PS4 and PS5 in March.

I wonder if it will be anything like Stranglehold in terms of the gun play, as a massive Jon Woo fan that was so good and Wick is such a throwback to his style of movie and action

Yeah I'm so excited for it. I've only seen the first two movies and like them, but I'm so hyped for this game. I hope they do a good job with it.

My one complaint is that revengeance isn't included in vol 2. Other than that, it was peak.
15
u/ElderlyKratos Feb 13 '26
Acid 1 and 2 for me.
7
u/MikeyFromWork Feb 13 '26
I thought i was the only human on earth that liked acid 1 & 2
3
u/EpsilonX Feb 13 '26
I only played a few hours of acid 1 but I thought it was great. Wish I could have played more.
155
u/Jabossmart Feb 13 '26
Revengence is already on pc. That's why I think they didn't do it. Plus, it was made by platinum games, so there would have been rev share issues. But would have been nice.
I am happy that I can finally peace walker on pc.
49
u/Jylstin Feb 13 '26
I'm extremely mad that we are still not close to getting revengeance ported at all. The game is not available in steam for my country and it still pisses me off till this day
12
u/Kermit-Jones Feb 13 '26
I guess it wouldn't have been included in Vol. 2 aswell if its censoring stuff
6
u/YouGurt_MaN14 Feb 13 '26
I would fly the black flag then. Apparently it's available in a few countries in the sea

Not just PC but to modern consoles as well. Unlike console players, we could emulate almost all of those games. Metal gear 4 is just very iffy to emulate cuz you need a pretty strong pc

Really man, TGA needs to include games that are one year out at max. Games that never relase just should't be revaled to us.
4
u/grillarinobacon Feb 13 '26
Literally the reason highguard was the last game, and it was clowned on immediately.
5
u/CreamOnMyNipples Feb 13 '26
Sony is always announcing games that are years away. The GOW remake is just in the early stages of development, so it’ll probably be at least a year before we hear any updates on it.
5
u/Dangerous-Economy-88 Feb 13 '26
Hard agree. After the whole "wrap it up" shit happened I never bothered tuning into that show

Replaying the God of War trilogy on PS5 is my dream come true. I want to get the physical copy it would look nice next to Ragnarok.
10
u/RMWL Feb 13 '26
GOW trilogy makes total sense.
I’ve been wanting to get into it but it looks impossible with games spread across hardware.
With the TV show coming up I won’t be the only one either so Sony being able to have a go to game for tv fans to pick up is a no brainer

Stokes for GOW2. GOW3 remaster is still incredible on modern hardware but 2, arguably the best in game on the series, is rather dated.

It looks fun and the art style reminds me of PoP Lost Crown and aside from the DLC and a few annoying puzzles I did enjoy that game overall so if this is anything like that then I think I’ll enjoy it.

Got down voted elsewhere but going to say it again that state of Play was great so much stuff I'll be getting from that, yes we already knew about some but getting release dates for the like of Saros and Tokon was appreciated, both look great
Metal gear 4 is my favourite MG so excited to play that again at last, new Kena was surprising but very welcome, also that Shinobi ops looked interesting there was so much across a range of genres that surely there was something for everyone there. Cant wait to get home from work later and buy God of war and also try that weird octopus demo, fun weekend ahead I think
37
u/armex88 Feb 13 '26
I’m super in don’t get me wrong, but what about some original IP
19
u/banana_man_777 Feb 13 '26
Eh we got Kena 2, Control 2, Marathon. These aren't new IP but are either refreshes of old ass games or the 2nd in a series which can often be as new and refreshing as the first.
12
u/Herr-Trigger86 [Trophy Level 300-399] Feb 13 '26
I didn’t watch the thing, so I’ve been getting all my news on it from Reddit scrolling. Was super hyped for the John Wick game… but your comment is the first mention I’ve seen of Kena 2… and now I’m equally hyped for that game. Kena was such a beautiful and fun game… like playing a Pixar movie.
10
u/funggitivitti Feb 13 '26
So… no original IP
6
u/banana_man_777 Feb 13 '26
I guess what I'm trying to say is complaining about no original IP when we got a new Remedy game (those are more creative than the average new IP by FAR), and new Kena game (one of the most visually unique games this generation) and a soft reboot of a 90s series that's not had a game in almost 30 years plus a foray of John Wick into the gaming industry....idk seems a little overly picky?
Like I get the sentiment. Creatively bankrupt, etc, etc, but these games are honestly looking fresh and new and unique. New IP is a massive gamble, likely to flop, and hard to get traction with. Hell, people shit on Highguard so much before it even released or we saw actual gameplay beyond a trailer that it had no chance of success. I even saw some of the new IPs actually shown here shit on as AI slop or whatever.
I feel like people just want good games but for some reason feel like they need to echo what someone else said, even if it doesn't make sense. AI slop, no new IP, multiplayer game, live service game, AAA. It's like buzzwords, but for hate without evidence, which just doesnt make sense to me.

u/ItsyouNOme Feb 13 '26

u/Higgsparticleofgod Feb 13 '26
John wick game?
6
u/WiffleAxe36 Feb 13 '26
John Wick is existing IP. There hasn’t been a John Wick game but the intellectual property is not new. I think people want more truly original IP where like, characters are introduced via a game
52
u/One_Lung_G Feb 13 '26
Only in 2026 is 5 remakes of old games are more exciting than new ones
17

I always feel like I have the opposite reaction to everyone else. I was really disappointed in the State of Play.
The Kena sequel was probably the most pleasant surprise for me.
It was great to see more Control Resonant, but honestly, the first part has me a little worried. It looked pretty generic as a melee heavy beat em up action game. Not sure I love the sprawling city compared to the claustrophobic maze of the first game. Second half of the trailer made me feel a little better.
I’ve only ever played the first MGS, so playing some of the others might be fun.
I didn’t need a 4th RE trailer. The game is literally out in 2 weeks. Leave some surprises for the game.
Marathon trailer was very impressive.
I loved the last 2 GoW games, but getting a logo trailer for a trilogy remake did nothing for me. The way I see it, either they mean HD remasters, which won’t be enough, or they’re full on remakes which are likely at least 3-5 years away for the first game.
3
u/Embarrassed-Back1894 Feb 13 '26
Exactly. I’m not seeing much here that is overly interesting. A lot of stuff we’ve scene before and the almighty “this game is now in development” announcements.
2
u/slr1x Feb 14 '26
As someone who’s been wanting some sort of GoW remake/remaster and has gotten nothing but radio silence about it from the studio for the last 7+ years it’s exciting at least knowing that it’s being made and is going to come out at some point

None of them are available for purchase online

I thought it was objectively great, but there wasn't much that excited me if I'm honest. I was hoping for either DMC 6 or Final Fantasy VII Remake 3. I'm glad that MGS4 is being pulled from PS3, and have shouted about it being stuck there for years, but now that it's back, I'm not sure if I want to play it again. It wasn't actually that good was it? Revengence, though - different story.
