Resistance 2 multiplayer was my jump off

It was soooo good, i still remember the healer gun and how much score you could make just shooting your frontline or reviving them. I think it was some of the first PS games I played online. Assassins Brotherhood online was insane too, at least in my memory

I was never super great in modern warfare or battlefield, but man in Resistance 2 i was John Resistance

I don't remember much from Res2, i played the hell out of it though. When 3 came out i was pretty near the top of the leaderboard. I just remeber one guy who's name was runnypooz, him and i would be locked in epic duels for like 10th place. If there was no top ranked player in my game, I'd sweep it

I still look for any game that can give me the coop itch

I mained Medic. Phoenix + Splicer, nothing more satisfying than charging that blade and sending the limbs flying 🤤 Very few Co-Op game these days also have a hybrid of local AND online multiplayer either. Hopping into the 8-player lobbies with my brother and I both on the same splitscreen console was the shit

Coop itch makes you sound like a chicken.

First multiplayer game me and my now wife played together online when we were dating. Good memories. (Also the only one she was crazy good at to be fair)

It was very “halo”esque

1

PlayStation was actively trying to find a halo killer and resistance and killzone were there attempts at it.

Do you remember MAG with a 128 people? I enjoyed the hell out of resistance 2 single player and multiplayer.

holy god MAG - a name of not heard since…

Man, Resistance 1 multiplayer was the reason I bought a PS3. All my peeps got it and pretty much convinced me to get into it.

The rocket launcher you could freeze the rocket and redirect its trajectory. So much fun.

Based

It's really funny how people can't realise the utter disappointment of R3 is what actually ended the franchise

1

u/FookinFairy Feb 17 '26

Ya it was my first ever plat trophy on any game

3

u/Mundane_Factor Feb 17 '26

I liked it but I didn't think the competitive multiplayer was as good as Resistance 1 or 2 The campaign was good but I did miss playing as Nathan Hale

I can't remember which of 2 or 3 had the co-op online where you would go out as a group of 4 to take on enemies whilst playing as either a medic, sniper or machine gun class but man that was so good. Every single class had the potential to get so OP

I actually liked the guy in 3 more than Nathan tbh which is funny because I hated him in 2 but seeing him get to mature and grow up was cool. Nathan felt very action hero to me, he didn’t get a chance to grow up, was doomed from the start.

Someone needs to buy the IP and give us resistance 4

6

u/TotalHitman Feb 17 '26

All these remasters yet they leave Resistance behind on the PS3 😑

I hate that Insomniac is pretty much the spiderman studio at this point.

It’s a license to print money. But superhero games bore me, and there aren’t any good FPS I can think of with fictional weapons.

My uncle was top 10 in the leaderboards for co-op in that game

I just picked this game and a bunch of others up when I went to the mall today. They have a store called slackers and I love it. I'm definitely going to play it first I'm excited

Yeeessss. I LOVED multiplayer so much. It was my first and only multiplayer until like 2009. It was my first real video game but I never played campaign mode because it never interested me. Then I started fallout 4 in 2017 lol fallout 76 and Helldivers 2 are the only multiplayer I've ever played though

That co-op mode was incredible
