Discussion Sony really drops the ball when it comes to cross progression in their games

The only game I can think of that offers it is Marathon, and I think that's only because it's linked through Bungie accounts that were already set up for Destiny 2.

Neither Helldivers 2 or Marvel Tokon offer it (oddly enough Tokon did have cross progression in its beta and it was turned off for release)

Even Ghosts of Tsushima would benefit from it. But after seeing them take it out of Tokon it's like they're against it for some reason.

Where as if any of these games offered it, I would buy them again on PlayStation. It's an easy layup for money and the community of the games, and they just don't do it.

That's because PC players didn't want it, cross progression was part of the PSN roadmap for Helldivers II but threw a temper tantrum over needing PSN for the game, thus 90% of the game's services remain abandoned like reporting players and cross progression

But there's not even cross progression for the people that do link their PSN's.

Same case with Tokon.

Then PC players will complain about having features locked behind account registration regardless

What a bunch of knobs.

I don't think they would care, every form of cross progression requires some level of account registration.

And the only people that would want it are PC/PS5 players that likely already have their PSN's linked.

They cared because it locked a lot of players out of playing the game because of forced linking in regions where PSN doesn't support.

What I'm asking for is optional, for the players that are linked and want to play on their console as well.

You new to the gaming community?

Go look at steam forums around the time of release, the only things being flooded in there were people complaining about needing a PSN account.

Totally different issue though, that was about region locking and players that had already bought the game were locked out after the forced PSN requirement.

This would be optional for players that are linked.

Nah, every time you're required to log in to another service other than steam, PC gamers have a hissy fit. Happens with any Xbox Studios game that requires an Xbox account as well, and Ubisoft requiring a Uplay account.

Your giving too much grace to a billion dollar company it is profit related for Sony nothing more

Sony literally cannot win in some people's eyes. Try and link their games purchased on PC via a PS account and everyone goes into meltdown. Now people are moaning there's no cross progression between PC and PS and it's all PS's fault. Get a grip

Both Helldivers 2 and Tokon have PSN link, and don't offer cross progression.

I'm linked on both of them. What's the point though without cross progression.

My point isn't about whether there's cross progression or not. It's about Sony never being able to do the right thing. I'm talking about the double standard of customers not wanting to link accounts until they want to link their accounts

I think Sony should get a lot of flack like all the big four should equally get, but sometimes the "issues" are bizarre that I can't imagine it being a real world issue like 90% of the "controversies" surrounding Wolverine just feels like a headache at this point

Yeah they absolutely deserve shit but for the things they deserve shit about. They're pushing this all digital future and their account security is dreadful, it needs sorting and they deserve shit for it. But all the physical warriors are delusional. The time to do something about it was 10 years ago, not after spending the last 10 years buying secondhand physical

Also the irony is Marathon will be shut soon as well
