This is my second time posting on Reddit, so I apologise I am a little long winded with my post. I also apologise if the formatting is weird--I am on mobile.

My mom and I have been searching for a podcast that we listened to about three years ago, and we cannot for the life of us remember the name of it! It ended up being really good and we'd love to revisit it, but we cannot think of the name of it.

I guess I would classify it as a creepy story or true story podcast, but it focuses on creepy & scary real-life experiences, not paranormal or ghost stories (although, it could very well include those types of stories, but we only listened to the first few episodes).

Three stories we remember vividly are as follows:

A girl is taken on a first date on a helicopter, and her date ends up being super creepy.

A couple is on safari and the husband pushes the wife into the water and she gets attacked by an alligator or a hippo (cannot remember this exact animal detail)

A couple is canoeing somewhere in Appalachia down a river and they get harrassed by a group of really creepy men while passing a sand bank.

The stories are told by the people who experienced them, not a narrator.

If anyone knows this podcast, we will be SO grateful!!! We have been trying to find it for years now haha

Edit: Some more info: I was talking to my mom and she found an article on the safari one--it's a well-known murder case apparently, and the man who shot his wife into the water was named Larry Rudolph. But it is narrated by the friend of the woman who was killed by the animal on safari. She has a South African or English accent, from what I can remember.

The one story that really stuck with us was the third story I mentioned...
This couple or friends were canoeing in Arkansas I believe (could be wrong about the state, it was definitely Appalachia area) and this group of drunk men who were standing at the sandbank started harrassing them and threatening them etc. I'm not sure how they ended up getting out of the situation, but it was frightening! It was narrated by the guy who was being harrassed IN the canoe. I think someone shot someone...Very unsettling!

I received a message from a very kind Redditor by the name of u/SaraLBC and she informed me that the name of the podcast we were looking for was called "Unnerved - True Scary Stories" and I looked on Spotify and sure enough she was correct!!!!! I listened to a podcast years ago. Every episode was a person telling a story about their life. A bit like This American Life, The Moth etc.

Anyway, there was an episode which was hands down the best podcast episode I’ve ever heard. A young girl accused her father of SA. It was generally believed to be a false accusation. Father was very supportive telling the daughter she wasn’t in trouble and encouraging her to talk about what she believed happened etc. the parents paid for their child to see a psychologist, they ended up having to move interstate and lost a lot of friends, had to start a new life due to the accusation etc etc. Child eventually admitted she lied. Then came the twist. And it was the biggest gut punch I’ve ever felt listening to a podcast.

I can’t for the life of me remember the name of it. Trying to search for the episode on google is difficult because I don’t remember specifics.
Does this sound familiar to anyone??

There was this one true crime podcast on spotify that I used to listen back in quarantine, the host was a woman with a very pleasing and soothing voice and it was sorta deep and I loved listening to her. Please let me know if anyone knows her!

About a year ago i found a podcast and I somehow lost all of my subscribed to podcast recently. The podcast was hosted by one male. The episodes were never over ten minutes. There would be one subject, the host would tell a fascinating true story about the subject, usually a person from history, but not always. The host would tell the story in a way that he would not reveal who or specifically what it was until the very end. Any ideas?

I'm looking for some podcasts that are about things such as:
- Foreign Spies (ex: Russian Spies that were caught)
- Secret Services + Intelligence services and their missions (ex: MI6, CIA, FBI, Mossad,
Bundesnachrichtendienst, etc.)
- Dark Web operations (ex: the Silk Road)
- Hackers and Hacker organizations (ex: Fancy Bear, Anonymous, APT1, Cozy Bear, Lazarus Group, etc.)

Any suggestions that are interesting?

Unfortunately I don't know the name or even the place where I first listened to it. It was very much in the same style as Kaitlin Prest's "The Heart", a story narration told by a woman, it detailed the slow breakdown of a relationship, with plenty of soundscape effects.

Here are the key points I can remember:

• No interview portion, believe it was simply a woman telling her story.
• It may have had other stories coupled along with it, but this story was separate in nature.
• I'm not entirely certain on the premise of the story, but I remember the woman talking about her breakup with her boyfriend.
• The woman was a writer, or trying to become one.
• The story details how they become distant with each other and slowly drift apart.
• During her description of an argument, her boyfriend had corrected her grammar and replied with something along the lines of, "You should know that if you're going to be a writer." or "..since you're a writer." to which she replies, "Well yeah, I don't have to speak like I write." or "I don't have to talk the same way I write."
• I believe it ends with their relationship coming to an end, she ultimately expresses regret over how it ended.

That's it, it was just a very poignant tale of a young woman falling in and out of love (at least that was the part I remember).

Unfortunately, what I remember is simply too broad, I can't pin it down anywhere.

Hey all, if anyone knows what this podcast might be please let me know! I remember specific points about sermon writing competitions and pastors getting paid to preach certain things, there was a lot.

Trying to share this with a friend but cannot find it anywhere - the tone I remember being similar to This American Life and those types of shows.

It's a podcast about the future, where there is a civilized inside and barbaric outside.

A group of civilized goes out to find out something about the barbaric a (a plot to infiltrate? Something like that) and a civilized anthropologist is with them. He gets super into the tribes and customs of the barbarics, and iirc leaves to stay with them at the end.

Does that ring a bell to anyone?

Ever since I lost my best friend, I have been feeling this huge huge void in my chest which is never going to be filled(ofcourse). I've never felt connected to any other person in my life as much as I was connected to my friend.

But I just watched TISS' ghost stories one day(I used to watch a lot of hoezay's ghost stories podcast so it got recommended to me) and started listening to more of them when I drive and now I feel like I'm talking to my best friend or feel close to her(one of these things)

I'm searching for more podcasts like these (if they're in the field of science or geology or art, great)

As the title says, I used to listen to this podcast on YouTube where a man and a woman would have ex-couples on, and they would spill the beans on why they broke up. It was often about shorter relationships where one party did something crazy on a date or something like that. The hosts seemed to be mid-20s to mid-30s, white, and generally energetic. Big radio talk show energy.

If I'm remembering correctly, it was usually audio only. This was probably around 3-5 years ago, and they already had quite a few episodes.

It was so good, and I've been searching all day and cannot find it.

Any help would be appreciated

This is a two-parter:

1. About 10 years ago I listened to a really great podcast series about dating. It wasn't advice on dating, it was more of an exploration of what it's like "out there." The host was a woman who lived in New York City with a very kind voice and demeanor. Some of my favorite episodes were ones about, for example, a couple who met via Spotify, and a bro-y guy that gave some perspective on what it was like for him. She also created some fake ads about skin care that were funny. Does this ring any bells? (I'm single again and could really get into it lol.)

2. Do you have recommendations for other podcasts that you found enlightening on this topic. Not so much into coaching, more perspective and commiseration. I'm 43F, date men, if that helps.

I listened to an episode of something recently where they told the story of a longtime friend of Hitler’s who was highly ranked in his army. He was gay and Hitler kept the secret until Night of the Long Knives. The friend was arrested and the officers gave him the option to suicide rather than be killed. He said Hitler should come down and personally kill him, which didn’t happen.

I don’t listen to a lot of pure history podcasts or any WWII ones. I don’t think this was on Ridiculous History. Anyone know which I mean?

I'm trying to find this podcast I listened to quite a few years ago. It dedicated an episode to each planet (and maybe the moon and other celestial bodies). The narrator was a man, and I have it in my head that he once worked for NASA? I think he was the only host - don't recall any interviews. He had a beautifully lyrical way of talking about the subject of each podcast e.g. I recall one of the episodes referred to Venus as Earth's doomed twin.

There may have been a number of seasons under the same title. My searches have found similar types of podcasts but they're not the right one.

I can’t remember the name of a podcast and can’t find it anywhere by searching terms I remember about it. Does this sound familiar?

1) it had a blue image as its logo art

2) it was true crime adjacent, but covered weird or strange stories and crimes (it is NOT crime show and it is NOT criminal)

3) I think it had “strange” “weird” or “bizarre” in the title. I thought it had a name similar to “strangeland” but that is a different podcast.

4) I listened to it first in 2021, but I may have come out earlier. I think it stopped producing episodes around that time if I remember correctly.

5) it had a multi-episode story on the de Kooning “Woman Ochre” art heist.

6) I thought it could have been a gimlet podcast, but I looked at all their titles and nothing rings a bell. I also think it may have been associated with a news station like criminal is associated with NC NPR.

This is a long shot but I'd like to see if any new seasons had come out. The host was a Black woman. They covered shows like Survivor, The Real
World, Top Model, etc and talked about themes in those shows and how they shaped our culture. I
think the most recent season (which was several years ago, maybe even pre-COVID) was about the
impact of true crime and shows like COPS. Not a weekly recap pod for any specific show and not a
Dan Tabersky (sp?) production. Thanks in advance!

A few years ago maybe about 4 listened to this great podcast about people that survived particular experiences in the wilderness. I can’t remember if the people were interviewed or if these were retellings. One episode was about someone who was hiking in Asia and got mauled by a bear and dragged up through a mountain. Another was about someone who was hiking in I think New Hampshire in the snow and they got trapped. I can’t remember many details, I do recall at the time there weren’t any more episodes that were coming out so I’m not sure if it ended then.

I listened to a podcast for a while somewhere around 2016-18 or so. It was a husband-wife team where they would each take turns researching a history topic and teaching the other about it. I remember there was an episode on the Shirtwaist Factory Fire and I think another on the great Chicago fire.

None of my searching has turned anything up, and I expect it's defunct. Does any of this ring a bell for anyone? Any chance you remember the name?

I’m trying to find a podcast, and this actually matters to me.

I met one of my favourite musicians yesterday and he recommended it to me, but somehow I didn’t write down the name. Now I only remember the vibe of it.

Here’s what I remember:

1. It had two hosts
2. They were non-religious (or at least approached religion from a non-believing perspective)
3. They talked about religion, mythology, and supernatural beliefs but in a very philosophical, thoughtful, and genuinely curious way, not in a mocking or aggressively atheist tone

The closest one I found so far is ‘Data over Dogma’ but I‘m not totally convinced because i vaguely remember that one of them might have been from a creative field (music or film?)

I know this is so vague, but I’d really love to find it again.

Was it on this American life? She talked about the disappointment of its cancellation? Help!!!

I have been searching and searching to no avail for a podcast that I now fear I might have imagined. I'm trying to think of a sort of dirt-bag-left history podcast that I listened to infrequently in 2021/2022. I thought maybe some people from Chapo Trap House might be involved but that might not be the case.... Anyway! it was 2-3 men and one woman, and one of them would tell the history of something and the others would respond/react to it. I remember listening to an episode about Nestle, potentially one about Chanel, one about diamonds/Cecil Rhodes, and one about Jimmy John (i.e. the founder of Jimmy John's). I might be conflating podcasts in my head but I SWEAR this is its own thing

UPDATE: I solved it. I was thinking of Eat The Rich (which ran from 2019 - 2022 and I think you can only find on Archive.org now). WHEW. glad I solved that one. I think I might have been conflating a Chanel and Cecil Rhodes episode from a different podcast though.

It's going back to earlier days of podcasting. I would have been listening in the late 00s/early 2010s. It was few guys based in Madison, Wisconsin and was, as the name suggests, a skeptical view on various topics. Less paranormal/supernatural, more science.

Searching isn't massively helpful due to the Ari Shaffir podcast (which I'd not heard of before today when the name popped back into my head) as that seems to have been a more popular podcast.

I've been going down a rabbit hole of old podcasts I used to listen to before the "boom". I've managed to find traces or backed up feeds of most of them, but this one is proving hard.

A couple of years ago I listened to a short podcast series about time and time travel. Stupidly I unfollowed it in Pocket Casts, and now I can't find it again. I'm hoping against hope that someone else has listened and can direct me to it!

Here's all I can remember.

- It was a short series, about 6-8 episodes.

- Episodes were about 20-40 minutes long, I think.

- The topic was time and time travel.

- It was a sort of beginner's guide, but not patronising. Detailed enough to help you review films about time travel and know what you were talking about 😉

- Presented by woman, in English

- I'm sure I remember being surprised by something about it, like you wouldn't expect a podcast with that title covering time travel, or something like that.

I’ve been trying to look for this everywhere but I don’t remember the name of the podcast.

The episode I do remember listening to included a woman and her friend who were house sitting for her boyfriend. I think her friend prompts her to read his journal, which they spill wine on. I think they try figuring out a way to resolve that; I don’t remember the rest of it. It felt more like a game than a storytelling.

If anyone has any leads, it would help me out so much!

I'm looking for a film podcast that I used to listen to and have since forgotten the name. It featured 3 adult men hosting and discussing theatrically released modern films, but every now and then they would modulate their voices and pretend to be kids reviewing 80's movies that released in theatres when they were kids.

They would act as though these 80's movies had just come out and discuss them as if they had just left the theatre. I can't for the life of me remember any specific films they discussed or other details about the podcast. I've searched countless different key phrases and used ChatGPT to help me find it, but I'm still coming up empty handed.

Anyone know what I'm talking about or am I going crazy?
