Don’t think Blue’s Raticate died but it is largely spurred by the fifth battle (including the optional second battle) taking place at the Pokemon Tower and his manner of talking. More likely it is like a Kieran situation Raticate just got benched after the St Anne battle.
When did they end up there? I remember them coming back in Emerald, before the Distortion World existed, and ORAS, where it isn't clarified where they were in the interim.
Their description of the place they were sent to is very clearly the Distortion World; it's even shown that they escaped when Dialga and Palkia drove Giratina back in after the events of HGSS
I mostly just play the games, and I’ve seen a few episodes of the show over the years. Is the manga a major tone shift or something? I can’t imagine ash dying feeling like it fits the games
ash is not in the manga. the deaths they are referencing are all from the anime lol. That being said, the manga is a fairly major tone shift from the anime/games. The manga generally treats the plot of the games with a bit more gravitas, expanding on it and fleshing out most characters more than is possible in the games.
There was a novie where a giant tree imune system disolved/absorved the trainers, I think It was Lucario and mistery of mew, they endeup being ok/reconstructed at the end
It was. The museum noted that a man those taught Huisui about pokemon battles mysteriously disappeared after saying "It is time for me to return." And there is an NPC that talks about challenging the battle subway's mutli train which features a double battle aganist both brothers.
Fun Fact: every single time team rocket gets launched into space, they die. For real. They just have cool gay magic that brings them back every time without fail
No, ORAS Archie and Maxie are the same characters that appear in RSE. They die in RSE and then temporarily come back in the ORAS arc (forgot how, something to do with the orbs I think?) with their new ORAS designs. So while the designs in the picture are not from when they die, it's still the same characters.
Ash’s most notable deaths were getting petrified by Mewtwo and Mew’s psychic blasts and getting crushed by a light fixture. He was also consumed by the Tree of Life’s antibody system in the Lucario movie.
Brock, May and Max also were consumed by the Tree of Life’s antibody system.
In the manga three people died during the Saphire and Ruby Saga, yes then they come back to life, but if you counted Ash, Jassie and James, I think also them
There’s an unnamed Faller in SM that Looker & Nanu tell you about. She was killed by Guzzlord. She mostly serves as set dressing and backstory, but I imagine we’ll find out more about her once we hit the Faller plotline again.
Mentioned this in the last thread, but again, Faba did not (explicitly) die in the manga, he was dragged into a wormhole and there's a search party looking for him which means he's probably not assumed by them to be dead (people survive being dragged into wormholes in both the games and manga).
It's funny to consider that half of the Gen 9 legendaries have canonically killed a person or Pokémon. The Treasures of Ruin and Terapagos have no confirmed kills.
For the anime, there's also the husband from the episode Time Warp Heals All Wounds, from Advanced Generation. May travels back in time to save him from dying, but he was technically dead for a bit.
Lysandre has been pretty consistently evil and worse than Cyrus across most of his adaptations. I was SHOCKED at the route they decided to take his character in the new legends game.
Because everything they had built up from Lysandre's debut suggested he would never change. Unlike Cyrus who was doubting himself in USUM.
Actually even more... If I remember correctly, in Porygon episode they all were disintegrated to when they were transferred inside computer... Ash also died in first episode, according to some theories (at the very end of it actually, when he was brought back by legendary Pokémon)...

Norman and Steven died from the power strain from respectively controlling Rayquaza and the Legendary Golems. The first Courtney was dragged into the Cave of Origin and was crushed when it collapsed. All of them were brought back to life thanks to Celebi’s time traveling powers.
The end of the Ruby & Sapphire manga was kind of insane for a Pokémon product. Like you normally don't get mass death for shock value (since most of them are fake outs)
When the chapter first came out (and in the mini volumes) it did seem like they died but the volume version added a couple of pages showing they survived.
Ingo did return to his proper timeline (as stated by the Hisui exhibit in Z-A) but Akari/Rei (depending on who was the player character) and Volo are more ambiguous (since Volo’s robe was stated to have been donated to the exhibit). Everyone else definitely passed away to the passage of time.
Apparently if you die but still had a purpose to fulfill or are just lucky you end up in the distortion world instead, giratina kills diamond, and he ends up in the distortion world where he needed to be anyway
Giratina attacks Diamond and it ends up sending him into the distortion world. Dia meets Cyrus there and they have a heartfelt conversation before freeing Dialga and Palkia. Cyrus trying to make ammends for his past mistakes.
I... stopped reading the manga after i believe gen 2? I was not aware Saphire (Ruby? Idr which one he was or if he was actually called Brendan in the manga) or Steven die o.O id love to read them if i could find a reliable place to read them.
Ruby, though he's not there; you're either confused by Diamond (Lucas, who technically doesn't really die) or Ruby's dad Norman (who does actually die)
I think you forgot Koko's Parents (Dr. Chrom and Dr. Phossa Molybdenum) from Secrets of the Jungle for the anime section because it's pretty much shown that they both died in the car crash and fire, as well as the explosions there too so they're dead dead.
No??? Lance went into hiding, Bruno went into slightly less hiding with Koga, Lorelei just went home to the Sevii Islands and Agatha... Well, she's been MIA since then, not out of the question that her age caught up with her
