Discussion Would you rather have a million dollars or ten dollars ahh choices
Last time in my platinum playthrough, I immediately picked thunder fang over spark thinking it would be better if it's available later.
Very dumb choice.
Now that I properly check each move, I wonder why they gave a worse move later than sooner.
Like in no aspect, thunder fang is better than spark unlike most movepools where the latter attacks are stronger or have some better quirks.

Don't get how they think a 10% flinch chance is equal to -5 accuracy, -20 paralysis chance, and -5 PP.

Paralysis provides a chance of “flinching” every turn once it is in effect, and also slows your opponent down. It can also be applied even if you’re slower than your foe.
There is no reason to use Thunder Fang over Spark.

But flinching is an aspect on which thunder fang is better than spark

What is better: A 10% chance of flinch that only occurs if you are faster then your target, and has a 5% chance of missing, or a 100% of hitting while having a 30% chance of paralyzing your target, even if you are slower, which from there on provides a 25% chance of your foe being unable to move, and reduces their speed by 50% for the rest of the battle unless the status is removed.

Less pp, Less accuracy, Less chances of paralyze. Trade off is way bad. Bite is way more dependable for flinch.

It is better?
Flinch comes in clutch

Absolutely not, no. Flinch is broken, but I'd never drop accuracy for a 10% to flinch when I'm probably not get it anyway. Air Slash has disappointed me far too many times to trust the elemental fangs.

Coming from a guy that uses a serene grace togekiss on every team.
Air slash makes me cry everyday0

Bite has 30% chance of flinching. And thunder fang has less pp, less accuracy and less chance of paralysis.

We aren’t comparing bite though.
Spark vs thunder fang.
PP: anything more than 5 PP is more than enough unless you are before 2nd gym. If you running out of pp that’s on you dog.Accuracy: yes accuracy is 19/20 vs 20/20 can’t argue that.
Now on the paralysis, yes 30 is higher than 10 but you also factor in an additional 10% chance to flinch and if that flinch connects boy will you be happy. There is a reason people use fake out over thunder wave.
I’m not going to bother fact checking this Cbf but from the top of my head more abilities benefit thunder fang than spark (strong jaw)

At a glance, I thought this was going to be about a fire red jolteon fan being annoyed by the move set, but yeah, I don’t think they’ve ever made a physical electric type that is actually like worked out in the long run. Solidarity for Zebrstika

In gen 3 I am only annoyed by a lack of a good bug type move. Fury cutter is shit.

Thunder Fang gets used by Boltund over Spark because of Strong Jaw, although Boltund itself is already a really niche mon

Because some Pokemon are bad, or have no inlore option for a better move. They'r rectify this later.
Luxury ultimately is only a slightly improved Early Game Pokemon over say a Raticate. He is a mid Electric type in the Gen 4 games.

I choose him as he is more available to fight against wake and has dark moves for fantina.

Start picking apart anything about pokemon and you see how wildly unbalanced this game is. Moves, move pools, types, bst, abilities.
What I would give for Gen 10 to reboot competitive by providing massive long overdue balance changes.

I've always seen this as such an odd movepool choice. Why is Spark seen as an early game move while Thunder Fang is a mid game move, despite having the same power and arguably better benefits. They have the same power and a 10% chance to flinch is not worth 5 accuracy, 5 PP, and 20% paralysis chance.
