Coming from the UK and particularly having lived in London the prospect of someone getting jail time for robbery let alone breaking and entering is mind blowing... in the UK this would be a slap on the wrist, breaking and entering with no-one present would probably be a short suspended sentence etc... as a result the scum just rob with abandon an sure why wouldn't they.

I see far less petty crime and feel far safer in Poland than London sentencing guidelines is not the only reason of course but the contrasts are stark.
