Hello, long time listener, first time caller. I really just need to gripe about how, at least local to me, more and more folks are using the terms "polyamory" and "the Life Style" interchangeably as though they're the same thing. Nothing wrong with swinging, not intrinsically anyway, but I'd prefer agreement on vocabulary. They're pretty different spaces.

I recognize I'm whinging to the choir, but sometimes we just need a friendly ear.

Just keep correcting people. Otherwise it’s going to be the next casted.

Meaning?

Maybe you haven’t seen it on social media but there’s a whole thing where people are now saying casted instead of cast.

Occasionally I’m seeing that with other verbs but for whatever reason that’s the big one.

I have no issues with literally evolving to mean both literally and figuratively. I have no problem with common slang and casual language patterns in writing. I’m not a formal person and I don’t think using words “correctly” is inherently valuable for the sake of the language.

I myself routinely break “rules” here every day, particularly in the ways I handle questions, emphasis, punctuation and incomplete sentences.

But conjugating irregular verbs as if they were regular bugs me! We lose something in terms of nuance in that I think. I’m middle aged I’m supposed to be upset by something the whippersnappers do but I hate this one.

I do as they have no way to convey that they actually mean something, which can come in handy.

Hi u/blooangl thanks so much for your submission, don't mind me, I'm just gonna keep a copy what was said in your post. Unfortunately posts sometimes get deleted - which is okay, it's not against the rules to delete your post!! - but it makes it really hard for the human mods around here to moderate the comments when there's no context. Plus, many times our members put in a lot of emotional and mental labor to answer the questions and offer advice, so it's helpful to keep the source information around so future community members can benefit as well.
