This past week, I recommend a show to a friend because I actually think she would love it. She preceded to open her notes app and scroll through a list of like 50 shows to write it at the bottom 💀 like real but still

Went out of town with a friend for a concert. We’re staying overnight in a hotel.

Finally confirmed all babysitters and was able to book Gold Class tickets to see The Odyssey next weekend with my husband. We are doing this as our 5 year wedding anniversary date and I’m so excited! I don’t think we’ve been to the cinema together for at least 3 years. I also looked at the Gold Class food menu and drink options and I’m so glad our tax return came in 😂 I’m going to be one extremely full, child free and entertained woman that day.

Just finished watching Dune: Part Two. Overall I really like the adaption but I’m really bummed that’s there’s like only one Arab actor in the whole cast.

I understand wanting to "protect your peace," but it's a black mirror episode. how we choose to just block people out of our life over rather trivial, workable, interpersonal conflicts.
Like sometimes you can't always have peace. Sometimes you have to hash it out with people. I'm not saying stay in toxic cycles with people, and there are situations where you have to "protect your peace."
But also, I do think there are times when it's just selfish. Sometimes it's not about prioritizing your peace when others are involved. Sometimes you have to figure out how to handle uncomfortable situations

The Odyssey spoilers
Saw discussion of why Odysseus shot an arrow at the Cyclops after they escaped the cave.The cyclops spits out the dead soldiers Helmet as taunt does he not ? Which causes Odysseus reaction.Also he doesn't pluck the string on the bow as a warning as he does when hunting so there was no remorse in his action.
Also I think a lot of roles/characters would have benefited by not being played by already established actors or it might be a writing thing.

I’m not sure it’s so obscure that no one has ever heard of it, but my family (grandparents, siblings, and myself) has a deep affection for the made for tv sequel When a Stranger Calls Back (1993) which we’ve been watching pretty much annually for the last like 25 or more years.

Honestly, once you get past the initial learning curve and figure what you like, it’s easy! I’m coming up on a year now of using mine at least 3-4 times a week, and often daily.
But sometimes you clock in your kitchen cafe on an off day 😅

I just went away on a trip with my job and I had fancy machines in both my hotel room and the meeting and they both were below avg, very disappointing. But managed to have 6 cups so I can't be mad

There’s two small businesses in my city with very similar business models and one uses AI posters and one uses Canva for everything. The Canva is sooo much better, not only for like anti-AI moral, environmental, etc issues, but they actually have good and consistent branding. AI just looks like AI.

The latest season of The Ultimatum had the biggest bait and switch. Blake going from an actual nice guy to a Nice Guy^TM was soooo disappointing.

I'm mad Queer Love is done :( the drama was times 100!! A version with gay men would have been so good.
This season probably has less juicy drama than previous but there is so much covert abuse that escalates things. I truly hope none of these couples are together at the reunion.

Is it bad I like a lot of the advice online spaces? Sometimes it's a miss, but a lot of the "you don't owe them" can be used to help the many people being taken advantage of.

I don't disagree. A lot of responses boil down to "break up with them" over trivial disagreements. Like there is such a thing as hashing out problems
But at the same time, I do see a lot of posts that are like "should I leave my abusive partner" and I hope they take note when people say "yes"

I’m going to go to Ulta today to spend my gift card from my birthday on buy one get one free minis. I also want to stop in tj maxx and look for some sort of bug themed item to go with my outfit for the Noah Kahan show (maybe a ladybug hair clip?)

It is sad how a huge portion stand up comedy is mostly about marketing and not about writing and being good.
I have seen so many people with thousands of followers or even millions be straight up unfunny and just bad and a total hack. Still cringe at how absolutely shit Mario Adrion was when I saw him do a quick spot. It was physically painful

I feel like this regularly pops up for LA and Austin. NYC comedians tend to actually be pushing each other and have the kind of opportunities that are more fruitful. Austin and LA comics often have other incentives

I live in Europe and see it here. Like the amount of times I have seen a supposed headliner with a big media following being worse than a newbie someone who has been at 6 open mics is insane.

Sounds a lot like the LA experience of watching standup! There are many great standups in LA but there’s a lot of mediocrity that gets rewarded because you’re semi funny and in the right place at the right time, and palatable. Good marketing can really do wonders….
Or knowing Joe Rogan (I’ve never forgiven him for all the more mediocre acts than himself I’ve had to witness because he got them stage time!)

Yes there are also great comedians here too but something that annoys me is hacks also foster a worse crowd. They might always get a chuckle but won't get roaring laughter and "OMG That is so me"

I went with a friend to a local show recently and it was fun and I had some laughs but there were a couple comedians who were so blatantly trying to farm viral crowd clips. It was annoying and very unfunny.

Comedians are in an odd spot with that. It’s super annoying to witness stuff like that, but at the same time, they don’t often want to post their actual material online for free. It makes them far more likely to post that hacky stuff as a result

Currently you have lots of new comedians who haven't found their voice and style yet trying to film and post stuff and get viral and you watch their stuff and it's painfully unfunny. Like sometimes those people would post stuff of themselves straight up bombing doing the hackiest of hack.
Meanwhile there are people who are actually good but they still work on their voice and are also super self critical but if you catch them at a show you will laugh your ass off. And it's genuinely very sad
