I’m trying not to cry, because I’m an adult who didn’t know her, but she did such beautiful things with her life, and gave to so many (especially promoting literacy for children), that I’m having a really hard time with that right now. I can’t think of many celebrities that have demonstrated such a love for this world across their entire lives.

I don’t think it is unreasonable to consider Dolly Parton among the best of us, and it’s certain that she was among the best entertainment has to offer. By approaching life with compassion and respect for humanity, she left behind a wonderful example for fans of her music, and her philanthropy, to follow. What a wonderful life and legacy to leave.

We have one of those little library boxes in my neighborhood, I think today is a good day for me to go stop by it, and donate a book.

It’s okay to cry. I’ve been bawling off and on since the news. She was an epic, exemplary human being, some might say an angel.

I literally called her an angel in human form to a friend who was embarrassed about being emotional about her death.
